I still do not see him being elected. Despite the popular myth that the concern is truly racist rednecks, it is the quiet unacknowledged prejudice of the Average American that will defeat him. People fear differences quite naturally, and some will even vote for other candidates not aware that it was the skin thing that decided it for them. If he does win, it will be close and what follows will be a most bitter affair and likely a mess single term, possibly involving assassination attempts.

In the end of it all I could care less, though I believed that Clinton had a better chance at defeating McCain and that Clinton was less likely to get more people killed. Perhaps there is chance their is a Golda Meir tucked away inside Clinton that might prove me wrong, but I have not seen evidence of it (rhetoric notwithstanding). She is a business candidate (like her husband) and I do believe she could care less about war (neglect and casual complicity in crimes against humanity is not something I excuse, but I do not see her escalating things unless she were dominated by her military advisors) and global hegemony. Obama on the other hand, speaks very much like a neoconservative and I fear he is secretly a hawk. Oh, yes, he "sorta" disagreed with the Iraq war (kinda, maybe ...not really) back in 2002, but his assurances that he was not against all war were far stronger and more confident than his lukewarm criticism of the war.

I have posted this speech, removing the couple of passages that mention George W. Bush and the current situation, on message board several times and convinced several people that it was George W. Bush or Dick Cheney or some Project for the New American Century neocon. This speech coupled with his stridently hawkish foreign policy and disturbing aggressive liberalism-styled rhetoric was front and center for me when I criticized him months ago.

way to wait 'til now to tell us not to vote for barack obama.

Lars and the Real Girl was okay if you squint really hard and just accept it as fluff. Lions for Lambs is so dreadful my favorite thing about the movie was actually Tom Cruise. [faints]

Tom Cruise was his regularly self, and that ain't good, but he was easily the least annoying factor at play on screen. After about 15 minutes of watching Redford and him sloganeering and throwing around the bumper sticker styled one-liners that the Democrats bang around, I wanted to cave this guy's head in with a brick.

I haven't seen a performance that obnoxious in some time.

i think i would be a little pissed if i was daryl johnson and i'd been both the studio and touring bass player for the rolling stones for close to 20 years and i still don't get any credit.  not even a video appearance.
