Speaking of dogs, are dachshunds the new pug? I saw 4 of them yesterday, just in one nabe. Prior to that, hadn't seen one in years.

I grew up with a dachshund named Becky. I don't know if Becky was indicative of the breed, but she had just about the ideal disposition for a dog. She was smart but independent and energetic without being a pest. Her general attitude was "Attention? Don't mind if I do and I sure appreciate it. No attention? No big deal--there's other stuff I could be doing."

They have bad backs, though, and are prone to certain types of cancer.
