My name is on Mars.

Quote
Dear Fellow Mars Explorer,
Phoenix On Mars!

For the first time in human history, we have landed in a polar region on another planetary body. Congratulations to the Phoenix team — we are on Mars!

Now — armed with a suite of science instruments and a digging robotic arm — the spacecraft and its team on Earth can begin hunting for water ice and adventure.

Don't forget that you are a part of this adventure…part of the story of space exploration!

As part of The Planetary Society's Messages from Earth program, your name — along with a quarter million others from around the world — is now on the surface of Mars. Landing with you on the disk is Visions of Mars, a treasure trove of literature and art — from classic works by Arthur C. Clarke and Ray Bradbury to Orson Welles' radio retelling of "The War of the Worlds" to a special audio recording of Carl Sagan delivering a message to the future.

The story of space exploration is being written everyday.

Fifty years ago we couldn't have told this story, but 50 years from now our names and thoughts...those Messages from Earth that we have sent...will be part of the story — part of the permanent record of space exploration.

Stay with us as the journey unfolds…

Sincerely,

Bruce Betts Signature

This is the current thread...

man i can't figure out where to post...hope this is the right place...

hey jsg..did you see puff daddy hob nobbing with lewis hamilton after his win yesterday?

i just saw jenson button on an old episode of top gear...he's totally hot...my wife even said so.

well out to cook some burgers...

I did not see that. I barely saw him cross the finish line...

Jenson Button is my absolute fave dreamboat hottie F1 driver (might have mentioned that previously). Too bad he sucks as a racer.

(haven't seen it yet, BUT...)

why didnt they all fall out of the boat/vehicle after being dumped by THREE HUGE WATERFALLS?

the same reason that in "temple of doom" they were able to safely land an inflatable raft that inflated itself as it fell thousands of feet from an airplane onto a snowy mountain and THEN navigate said raft off a cliff into a raging whitewater river another thousand feet below.  all without a scratch.

AND

before that when they landed in water in the tunnels, the trader guy lights a torch with what?  a wet lighter Roll Eyes

the same reason they were able to wade through the gasoline in the tunnels below the library while holding a torch dropping flames into said gasoline and THEN evade consumption by fire when the bad guy ignites the gas by SUBMERGING THEMSELVES IN IT in ""the last crusade"

the reason being, of course, IT'S FRIGGIN INDIANA JONES, right?  which is why i recommended watching this one with a grain of salt and from a 10 year old's perspective. (by the way, how did your boys like it?)  i've heard some good things and bad things.  most of the complaints i've heard though aren't really plot/development complaints, but bad CGI and the like. which after the star wars fiasco, i fully expected.  i'm kinda looking forward to seeing it.  maybe even tonight, since i've got the night off.
