one of my friends from the old undergrad days was staring back at me when i opened the onion today.

if you're also Up Late With People, go read Mr. Rick Ness and his attempt to justify his band's existence.

he's the chub with the bug eyes on the far right.  and i mean that in a loving way.  he's a beautiful man.

in the interest of full disclosure, i should add that rick's drummer in that band is another beautiful man i went to college with named bill swartz.  he lived down the hall from me freshman year and was like a sore thumb in the midst of frat boy privilege.  he was always styled like a late 70s German footballer and had an unashamed love of all prog rock and heavy 70s weirdness, which doesn't seem odd now but in 1986 it was pretty damn out there.
