UPLOADING AVATARS HERE IS NO LONGER NECESSARY (OR EVEN PARTICULARLY USEFUL)

Here's what you do instead:

• Find whatever image you want as your avatar and save it to your computer.
• Click on the blue "Profile" button from near the top of the page.
• Then, from the "Modify Profile" heading on the left, pick "Forum Profile Information"
• Then pick the "I will upload my own picture:" option and use the browse button to find the file on your computer
• go to the bottom of the page and click "Send Profile"

Then enjoy your fabulous new avatar. While the attachments section will likely still be purged from time to time, the avatars section will never be purged.

In order to nudge y'all in the right direction, I'm going to close this thread. Since you can upload images directly to your profile for use as avatars and since you can upload images directly to threads as attachments, "The Attachment Isles" is officially no longer needed. RIP.
