I saw bits of that, too. And while it was indeed awful, having "different" types of bands (who aren't just pop crap) was pretty impressive.

As bad the racism surely is, that piece was slanted to an embarrassing degree.

When you get down to it, the black people in the video are likely voting for Barack Obama only because he is black. Of course, it is presupposed that Obama is the enlightened choice and so there could not possibly be any base motives behind that. I guarantee you we would be disappointed with what would come out of the mouths of almost any people voting for any candidate if you asked them to articulate their reasons. Each white voter in the video swore that they were "Democrat all the way" (or something along those lines) ..revealing they were hardly putting much thought into voting to begin with. No one in the video exuded the aura of an INFORMED VOTER (maybe the woman who had been on city council?).

Most people are racist and bigoted and ignorant and are voting for complete bullshit reasons, whether they are on "our side" or not. How about all the men who voted for Obama because they can't stand the idea of some vagina with legs running the country?

Racism is obviously a massive problem in the US (and elsewhere), but it is but one of many. A greater problem is the reason such base motivations can be exploited in elections: voter ignorance. Sadly, excepting for the individual intelligence of each voter, the ignorance is crafted as such and very deliberate. Who understands the positions of the three candidates? Who weighed each one? I do not understand any of their platforms and have spent considerable time going over them. They are not intended to make any sense and at any rate hardly matter as they are not followed once they are in office. For most people it is little things or emotional things and it is no surprise that most racists won't vote for Obama - even if he were white and Hillary was out of the race they would simply be voting for him because he is a Democrat. With these conditions it takes very little racism for a white person to opt for the person more like them (this is actually logical, and given that Clinton and Obama's platforms are indiscernible from each other, not exactly meaningful beyond what makes us sad) or to not vote for someone because they threw their medals over a fence, etc.

Same as the Kid. I think he's May 4 and wished him a happy belated when I talked to him on the 8th, but who the fuck knows?

Just finished watching a "not for broadcast" client screener (shhhh! private!) for a series she shot... and just finished the last shot of the 1.75L vodka I brought back from Tejas... on Siunday night. Seems fitting.
