uh,...sorry, I kinda feel crapped out after a disastrous bike ride earlier.

I walked, with my bike on my shoulder, a kilometer into overgrown farmers fields and ended up turning back and retracing my steps along the muddy ATV path (you can see the ATV path extending through the woods from Rose-Marie Ave) when the sun came down. I kept thinking I could see deer through the thickets, and I do believe I heard one as I was leaving, but mostly I only saw their tracks which were everywhere. I don't usually think of Montreal as an island that has wildlife apart from skunks, raccoons, squirrels, pigeons, and other urban critters.

Oh, and then after beginning to bike home I realized my watch was no longer on my wrist. I biked back (several kilometers), against traffic, along Gouin Ouest (which is scary highway speeds country road) combing the pavement with my eyes. I returned to Rose Marie just in time for the Sun to disappear from the sky. There was no way I was going in (it was creepy enough in the dusk)  and there was no way I would find it, anyway. I did not want to come back but not knowing where it was would drive me into mini depression that I did not need and so I would return. However, as I stood there at the top of the ATV path, I asked myself,

"Why, given my terrible luck over this years, which has seemed to side with the remotest of possibilities, could this not be a time when fluke luck smiled upon me, and the band of my watch snapped when I dug into my knapsack for a piece of gum?"

And with that I reached into my knapsack...to find my watch. Its strap was broken.

I had no way of knowing it was broken - in fact, it would have been likely that it loosened and simply slipped off, but there it was as I had just mind atomed.

It was a cool moment and I was somewhat more weirded out more than I was relieved.

I just biked home.

And what would a bike ride be without photos from the sky?
