Did you get The Ultimates last night, FBP?

nO Sad it was sold out, more coming friday, we have one on hold; he bought a star wars from Feb. 1985 and a new iron man.

Another Avengers book you might consider for your boys is "Avengers Assemble Vol 1."  Aside from Ultimates this is the best Avengers run of the past 10 years...and maybe a bit less, um, "mature" for your younger boy.  It has a more colorful, fun tone.  Great art by George Perez.  It's hardcover only, almost 400 pages, cover price $30.  Don't pay more than $20.

I really fucking wish Jon Stewart would stop allowing for McCain to continue to portray himself as some sort of fucking aisle-spanning moderate.

One very important thing to know regarding US politics: aisle-spanning moderate in the US = wingnut nearly everywhere else in the West.

Avengers: Kree/Skrull War reprints some all-time classic stories from the early '70s.  The writing from this era can be a bit hokey at times, but the art by Neal Adams and John Buscema is the gold standard for Avengers comics.

Early reviews of the new Indiana Jones movie are not very good..

I could have anticipated that, if I bothered thinking about it.  I'm probably going to go see it... A friend of mine is a huge Indiana Jones nerd (he had the Indiana Jones theme played at his wedding, while he was walking down the isle!) and he absolutely wants to drag me along to that.  I think he already bought the tickets for the première.  It's going to suck, and I'm going to have to be all diplomatic and shit about it.  Groan.

Come on, in Hollywood, it's very, very rare that a sequel improves upon the original!  And number three was already kinda meh!

I think the only reason why I still ike the Indiana Jones movies is that I saw them when I was a wee lad, and the nostalgia associated with them has made me too indulgent.  Same with Star Wars, and Star Trek.

In the late 1990s I reached my fill of both Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. I can stand neither of them now. I am not sure what threshold it was that they crossed, but it was around the time that Seven Days and Seven Nights and Entrapment were released (I have seen neither).

The last films I saw by either of them were likely released in the mid-90s or earlier.

stay away from both of those....  seven days...  one of the worst movies i've ever seen, despite the fact that former lesbian/present scientologist anne heche is extremely hott in that movie.   entrapment is probably the best example of sean connery cliche-ing himself i can think of.  terrible.  although, whenever i do a sean connery impression, i usually always say "she's playing both sides"  which i think, is from that movie.

harrison ford films (other than star wars/indy)  i really like: bladerunner, witness, frantic, regarding henry, presumed innocent, mosquito coast. i don't mind the jack ryan movies so much, although they got progressively worse.  and the best, ironically doesn't star harrison ford, but rather sean connery (hunt for red october), and is probably the last great role for him.  although "finding forrester" was a pretty good, heartwarming film.
