im so glad the circus is gone, told ya i am a misfit in this city, state, world... local news is saying a narrow victory by hillary;  i saw tim russert this morning saying she's all but done, i agree

i vote also for deleting the thread from yesterday since it could cause probs for a crapiteer, im still in the voting spirit; i think some people go to all those rallys and such just to see themselves on tv

im in a ick mood, i hate work, i wanna go home

my song of the day but not a good video, love me some nels cline

I definitely like me some Nels Cline. Some of his work on Pillow Wand (with T. Moore) does justice to the expression "mind-blowing". For a time I had wished he had joined SY instead of Jim O'Rourke. Nothing against O'Rourke, it's just that I noticed that the albums produced with him are amongst my least favourite, and that upon the release of Rather Ripped I believed them to be back on track, though I was not immediately aware that O'Rourke was now absent.

Is Ibold still playing with them? Where's Tom?

i believe by the end of her husband's terms we actually had a surplus instead of a national debt...can someone confirm this?

Clinton created budgetary surplus...but we still carried national debt.  It would take decades of sober budgeting to wipe that out.

Y'know, there's probably no hope of ever wiping out our national debt no matter how well we budget.

Compound interest is indeed the most powerful force in the world.

I really enjoyed the Iron Mans!  This movie is EXTREMELY palatable for NON-NERDS.  You won't feel left out or confused.  You don't need any arcane comics knowledge.  I recommend it for all audiences.

Downey's attitude and approach to the role is terrific.  He single-handedly makes the movie highly enjoyable.  This is THEE definitive rendition of the character.  IMO, Tony Stark has never been done so well in the comic book.  I'd love to see Bruce Wayne characterized with this level of charm.

When people drink whiskey in this movie, they eat it like a meal.  They foreshadow the personal weaknesses of the character and I love that they give Tony the heart problem.  That was always key to the character in my opinion, but has been cast aside for a long time now.  Good to see it back.

Iron Man actually has a pretty cool origin (which is rare in comics)...and this telling of it is the best I've ever seen.  There are no stupid lab accidents or spider bites.  Tony goes through a life-changing hostage situation and comes out a different person.  That's what heroism is supposed to be about, right?

You get thrills and something like international intrigue.  The terrorists are probably too comic booky.  They're stupid almost to the point of racism.

Yeah, the movie has flaws.  Thankfully we're spared the typical Marvel nu-metal crap...but musical score is one of the worst in history.

There is too many boring scenes of Tony building armor.  Jon Favreau is not a very good action director yet.  The special effects are well done.  But many of the action scenes lack scale.  I do like the escape scene with the proto-Iron Man suit.  The flying scenes are cool.  The final battle is very anti-climactic though.  Not only does it fail to up the ante, it takes chips off the table.

Favreau has a good grasp of storytelling necessities and he obviously loves working with actors.  4 great actors.  Terrence Howard is good, but isn't given enough to do (next movie).  The romantic scenes with Paltrow are well done.  Jeff Bridges is pretty good too.

Very fun action movie with strong characterization.

MIGHT be in the top 5 super-hero movies.  Not as good as Spider-Man 1 & 2 or Superman 1 & 2.  On the whole I liked it better than Batman Begins.

I think Iron Monger is kind of a lousy choice for the villain in the first movie.  Tony Stark is portrayed as a super-genius and it's kind of silly that Obidiah Stane could create a suit to rival his so quickly after Tony's technological breakthroughs...and he's just kind of a lame derivative character besides.

I for one would love to see the Mandarin in the next movie.  Jeff complained about "magic" powers, but aren't the rings alien technology?

One thing about this movie is that they keep it as realistic as you possibly could given the material.  I think they need to get a bit more out there and super-heroey the next movie.

Crimson Dynamo

If they hadn't just done Iron Monger I might agree.  It's sort of boring to me when he just fights another tin can.

I like it when he takes on something a little more supernatural.  It highlights him as a mortal man.

One thing I was disappointed in was that they didn't do the alter ego thing with Iron Man as Tony Stark's "body guard."  I love Iron Man as sort of a corporate symbol for Stark Industries.  Oh well.
