wow. it really was  good.   about 3 minutes in you decide you like it.  by the four minute mark you're sucked in for the entire thing. which seems to last forever....and that's fine.

And, wow...there's a lot of firewood in that backyard adventureland now, Cappy.

yuh huh....  I was not making this face  without good reason.     Once we got down to the trunk, we realized that it was carptenter ants that had completely hollowed it out, making it ready to collapse.

This is the song that the carptenter ants mockingly sang at me, while I was hauling logs to and fro.

The Carpenter Ant Song

Goddamn that's a catchy song, Captain.

Well, I listened to a bunch of Polvo (celebrate the new dark age, exploded drawings, shapes and today's active lifestyles, obaitned through the usage, if not abusage, of modern technology) and I like it.  Actually, I like it quite a lot, particularly exploded drawings and today's active lifestyles.  I'm getting these cds.

"Fast Canoe" is one of the greatest album openers of all time. I love playing along with it.

Shapes takes a while to get into, but it is rewarding. Some great stuff: "Feathers of Forgiveness" (which usually went on at full volume when I was in a bad way with W____), "Everything In Flames!", "Twenty White Tents". El Rocio, particularly the final five minutes, is one of my favourite songs to play along with. The beat starting at nine minutes...I could jam on that for hours.

It's funny, I always thought you knew Polvo well and just didn't like them...had I known I probably would have sent you songs. My sister even likes them now. A friend from Concordia kept sending me math rock stuff and I set him straight with Polvo, Rodan and Don Caballero. I think he only dugged the Polvo, but he did react the same as you, "I've got to get these albums, ASAP". Which is funny, 'cause Polvo is one of those bands I have consistently resisted actually buying, despite the fact that I have such a profound love of those songs since I was in first year CEGEP (1995).

I have a feeling it is because of their seemingly cold nature and my tendency to  listen to them when I am in a bad place. The misanthropy that peels of Ash Bowie has always relegated their music to something of a guilty pleasure for me.

I believe I still have their non-album tracks around here somewhere...but I Have a feeling I may have burned most of 'em to disc.

They were a band I got into at the same time as I did the Grifters. "Can I Ride" did it.

Remember "Colonial Arms"?

I heard of Polvo, and probably heard some of their songs on Brave New Waves... But I never actually actively listened to them.  Which is kind of strange, when you think of it.  I mean, I'm a fan of Mary Timony's stuff!

I like Polvo though I have to admit I've never really explored them.
