Its a fine line between obnoxious and obnoxious.
Exactly. You have a perfectly enjoyable musical jaunt ruined by Daniel Smith's incessant shrieking. I suppose it is somewhat remarkable that he can actually overwhelm such a raucous din with his yelp, but I feel rather like I am being assaulted. It's a pity, because if not for the vocals, some of the songs would be entertaining. Well, entertaining like Frog Eyes, which I have also had little interest in spinning though I downloaded most everything. The album cover lists the guests on the album ...including Satomi Matsuzaki, Greg Saunier, Chris Cohen, John Dieterich and Sufjan Stevens...I expect they are what adds the punch to some of the tracks. I don't know much of that stuff specifically, but I recognized that sentiment. Another persons love of some godawful shreiking mess of a band (antony and the johnsons) isn't really all that different from ones own love of a brilliant eccentric shreiking mess of a band (Half Japanese)

Cap, you dad's review is the best thing I've ever seen.
Comparing songs to glasses of wine (and hundreds of them, at that)?? Why didn't I think of that?

I wish my dad would say nice things to me like that. My dad totally would. If I ever, you know, did anything.

the blurb on the sticker on the cover of your cd-
"I felt that I was being invited into a room where there was a table covered with over a hundred different glasses of wine."
