today's "bring your kid to work day"

my son's finally old enough so he's at work. He gets screwed though because it's his spring break...he doens't get to miss any school.

but they have a whole day full of activites here so  he doesn't actually see how boring my job is and decides to smother me in my sleep to put me out of my misery.

Good.  It's about time he started contributing something to the household.

There is a pair of mourning doves now hanging oot on the premises. First time I recall getting a good look at them...until now they were always those silhouettes on the wire, cooing.

I am really not sure what to make of Danielson. I have heard them before countless times on compilations, but I have been trying to wrap my head around Ships for days.  On one hand it is unbelievably obnoxious, on the other it is no more obnoxious than much of what I have been listening to of late.

So...Venture Brothers is a television show and not a band?

Venture bros is a fine cartoon on the cartoon network. Very enjoyable

The Naked Brothers Band is a fictious/nonfictious band that stars on a nickelodeon show, The Naked Brothers Band

hope that clarifies things

Allman Bros -- southern rock sorta jam band.

Mo 'Oh Man' Brothers -- African American Spiritual Harmony Revival type singers

Exactly. You have a perfectly enjoyable musical jaunt ruined by Daniel Smith's incessant shrieking. I suppose it is somewhat remarkable that he can actually overwhelm such a raucous din with his yelp, but I feel rather like I am being assaulted. It's a pity, because if not for the vocals, some of the songs would be entertaining.

Well, entertaining like Frog Eyes, which I have also had little interest in spinning though I downloaded most everything.

The album cover lists the guests on the album ...including Satomi Matsuzaki, Greg Saunier, Chris Cohen, John Dieterich and Sufjan Stevens...I expect they are what adds the punch to some of the tracks.

I got the most pleasant surprise in my inbox last night.   My dad, who has never really spoken to me about my music wrote to respond to a solo piano CD I finished earlier this year.    He doesn't ignore the topic in a mean or disapproving way.  Its just not his bag.  at all.   He owns no records.     So I was floored by this very nice review.  At the very least, it beats most of the Pitchfork writers:

"Wow the new CD is something.  How is it being received?  When I listened to it (I have many times already) the first time, I felt that I was being invited into a room where there was a table covered with over a hundred different glasses of wine.  I was being asked to briefly take a sip and inhale the aroma and give my feelings as to how they ranked.  After the first pass through the CD (having sampled all the glasses) I had only a very few that I felt didn't belong on the table, the great majority were worth another longer sip.  After many plays, (I play it as I am going to sleep) there are several that I wish I could purchase the whole bottle.  Are these just ideas that come to you, and do you plan to expand some of them into full tracks in the future, or is this it?
Did you do the mixing yourself?  The timing between cuts was just right, enough time to savor the past and prepare for the future track.  Only once did one track start before the previous track had completely finished.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I really liked it.
Dad"
