I have been extremely surprised at how new wave post-rock punky Jay Reatard is - I was expacting more primal no-fi garage rock.

Sounds exactly like a noisy Devo on "Waiting For Something", exactly like the Futureheads on "Puppet Man"/"My Family", Ramones on "I See You Standing There", like a garage punk Wolf Parade/Frog Eyes on "My Shadow"...these are comparisons from someone who is suprised in the shift, not attempts at claiming he has followed in the footsteps of these others.

There is definitely a lot of new wave in there..somehow more than there ever was on Lost Sounds.

Those two first P.I.L. records are great. I approve of you almost getting killed while listening to Annalisa.  If you ever decide to get Metal Box, get the british reissue.  The US one sucks: not enough bass... I made the mistake of getting the cheaper US reissue, and boy, was I pissed!  I now have the british one, which also happens to have cooler packaging.

Yeah, I was listening to the mp3 ya gave me. Some of the songs are coming back now...I heard some of them once or twice somewhere, but I feel very foolish only getting around to giving it a proper listen-to now.

I had been thinking, before I was almost struck dead, "I must find my own copies, post haste."

I actually shaved the day after I got the job and freaked out everyone by coming in beardless.

Also: Jay Reatard's "Puppet Man" could be easily mistaken for Man or Astro-man? with Star Crunch vocals.
