I forgot yesterday about one of my sister's biggest contributions to my development as a music lover...

Led Zeppelin.

My 9th grade year of high school was her senior year (80-81) and I used to ride to school with her in her stylin' white Opal GT
and among the 8-tracks we used to rock were AC/DC Back In Black, REO Speedwagon (ugh), Journey (I liked em at the time)
and Houses of the Holy by Zep which was a huge revelation to me because before that I felt that Zep was the terrain of hardcore freaks and ruffians (of which there were many MANY at Raleigh-Egypt) but the first time I heard Song Remains The Same I 'got it'.  And I still rock that album whenever I can.

i used to be scared when listening to LA Woman when it first came out, i was born in 1965 so i will look it up later.   I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Crunge on Houses, fuckan a eh

what frosts me about the gas is that it jumps .30 cents - .50 cents at will

I am 32 years old and have been driving for 16 years. When I started driving, gas cost 88 cents a gallon.

I am nowhere near old enough for it to cost more than four times that amount.

ok la woman was released in may of 1971 so I was 5, no wonder i was scared of those scary bearded fellows

first car 1968 camaro, candy apple red with with orange and blue pinstripping.  It was all show but no substance as in engine.  It was actually pretty but a piece of junk.  Funny story, we drove this car which had a bad pull to the right to chicago to see Truimph and Molly Hatchet at man, i am having a brain fart on the venue, i think it is allstate arena now but was?  My younger brother was driving and we were meeting my friends.    ON the way home, the steering was going out and we were coming inches of hitting overpasses and i screamed, if i die i am going to kill you!  dumb fuck i am

not as pretty as this:

my other cars were not as glamours, 1976 oldsmobile cutlass supreme junked out, Delta 88 big white party mobile 4 door in college at Indiana University.

if you play the ending of darlin nikki backwards, it says very clearly, "hello, how are you?" "i'm fine. because i know the lord is coming soon."  i will gladly do a demonstration when y'all come down if you are interested.  it's kinda creepy.  my thinking is that during that time all the preachers were frantically searching every popular (and not so popular) album for hidden devil messages to prove that rock n roll is evil.  so prince, in all his purple genius pulled a fast one and hid christian messages to piss them off.

Here it is.

I've listened a few times now, and I'm pretty sure he's saying "cranberry sauce".

Never owned a car.  I don't even have a drivers licence.

Here's my wheels: a Fiori frame and fork, with parts from all over, a real Frankenstein monster that I have been riding and rebuilding for nearly a decade now.

When we need a car, we rent one, and R____ drives it, she has a licence.

84 Celica.  This was the first car I bought with my own money.  Before this, I drove my brother's 81 Civic 4 door.  It was sweet 'cos he had installed an Alpine tape deck AND rear speakers.  The fader knob was from radio shack and mounted under the dash, down by the ashtray.  The Celica ended up sucking and had no working radio, a theme that continues today in my automobiles...

I drove the most beautiful tan 1976 Mercedes for a while about 10 years ago.  It was the most pleasurable car to drive and I got offers on it almost every time I drove it.  It was eventually crushed by a fallen limb in my apartment parking lot during a terrible storm.

(Knock, Knock)

"Yes? Who is it?"

"Uh, don't you drive that real pretty Mercedes in the parking lot?......"

I'll never forget that car. Cry
