We watched The Mist last night. pretty good. Not stellar.
I don't know why, when it was released, they didn't play up the monster angle.
Cause it's a full-on Lovecraftian monster movie. yeah, it totally falls into cliche territory.
Lots of stuff from the Alien movies but you got yer giant mosquitos, gargoyle-types,
spiders, tentacled thingies, and some huge gigantic Cthulu brand stuff.
the ending kinda goes places it didn't need to i thought but it WAS a horror movie ending.
If you need a good monster movie creepy-crawley fix then check it out but y'know, don't expect
supreme greatness. Better than Slither, not as funny as Tremors, and a little too much christian
allegory but a fun drive-in movie.
I love when people aren't afriad to go with downbeat endings, but there's downbeat as in "depressing, but true to the material" and downbeat as in "I stuck it in and broke it off, bitches!" and
The Mist definitely was in the latter category.
