yesterday S____ and I went down to the river.  I'd heard that all the melt-off from the many months of snow was finally gonna be here in mempho and that the river would be high. Well, it was and it was pretty wild.  I took some pics which I'll try to post later.  if you've ever been down to the river here then picture this; the water was pretty much completely covering the cobblestones. it was WAY up. And there was a layer of fog on the river and in the distance the fog obscured the other side of the river. it was truly ominous and eerily beautiful.

We watched The Mist last night.  pretty good. Not stellar.

I don't know why, when it was released, they didn't play up the monster angle.
Cause it's a full-on Lovecraftian monster movie. yeah, it totally falls into cliche territory.
Lots of stuff from the Alien movies but you got yer giant mosquitos, gargoyle-types,
spiders, tentacled thingies, and some huge gigantic Cthulu brand stuff.
the ending kinda goes places it didn't need to i thought but it WAS a horror movie ending.

If you need a good monster movie creepy-crawley fix then check it out but y'know, don't expect
supreme greatness.  Better than Slither, not as funny as Tremors, and a little too much christian
allegory but a fun drive-in movie.

for some reason, when "the mist" came out, i got it confused with john carpenter's "the fog", and thought it was the remake of a horrible movie, (which apparantly WAS remade) so i never had any interest. i haven't been a fan of too many stephen king movies either, so i usually watch any of his movies with caution.  but i like scary movies, ans so does k__, so maybe i'll check it out. maybe.

It was actually one of those movies that had me yelling at the set... GET OUT THE ROOM BITCH!! GET OUT THE ROOM!!

I'd give it 2.5 stars. Maybe a little more. It had everything you go to horror movies for. And the monsters were all done very well.

Thanks!  Yep.. pretty damn proud of him.  I woke up yesterday and said.. "hey, you should make a movie".  and he just totally took the hell over.  Ordered us around all day.   it was awesome.

We did some bonus features too.

i love that!  a long ass time ago, there was a dollar theater here, kinda in the hood that we would go to not only for cheap movies, but because the audience was notorious for yelling at the screen. lots of fun.  we went and saw "sleeping with the enemy" and i will always remember the lady next to me who couldn't stay in her seat.  "PICK UP THE GUN, BITCH!  SHOOT HIM AGAIN! THAT MOTHERFUCKER AIN'T DEAD! YOU KNOW HE AIN'T DEAD!" between screams, indecipherable mumbling.  i miss that place.

i just watched that!! i think i enjoyed this a little bit more. i'm just glad that they saved their arguing for the media blitz after filming- it's press, at least.
