A post from the Montreal Shows board, on a thread I started months ago about the old Jailhouse venue. The original question was, "When did it close?", but predictably people began to reminisce:

Here are some Jailhouse shows that stand-out for me:

Didjits with The Muffs opening
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Railroad Jerk
Half Japanese
The Grifters (w/one of my old bands, Slaphappy 5 opening along with pre-Hole Mellissa Auf de Maur's Tinker)
Pud (pre-godspeed Mauro and Efrim) / Shlonk / American Devices
first time The Bell-Rays played there (I don't remember who opened) and the second time when another of my bands, Crackpot got to open
Da Bloody Gashes LP launch with Crackpot and Les Georges Leningrads opening (first time I ever saw les georges, and they were great)
Slaphappy 5 / The Snitches / The Good Cookies (Joellen of The Snitches, sat in on viola with Slaphappy for a couple of unrehearsed songs)
A show I put on called Festival de la Guitare Wig-Out that featured three local guitar based bands (Swamp Circuit, Slaphappy 5, American Devices) that each covered one song by the other two bands in their set.
