Rockestra theme off Back to the Egg is pretty effin' rockin. And from what I recall is was an all-star line-up on that song.

bonham and john paul jones, pete townshend and kenny jones, ronnie lane, and others were all on it.   1979. (pre-john's death)

haha.  i love say say say.  (the song, not neccessarily the video)  i was like 9 or 10 when that song came out.  i have been known to make a fool of myself on the karaoke machines a couple times trying to do both paul and mj's parts.  the girl is mine, however, might be the worst song ever.

WHAT A BUNCH OF PRIMADONNAS!!!!  HOLY SHIT!

Our rider had

12 pack of beer
bottle of scotch
socks
battery (for fx pedal)
snacks

and usually we just got the beer.

i put a big ol dent in a bottle of jack daniels y'all were given at that tampa show at the seafood restaurant, that was essentially some kid's birthday party (his friends booked y'all, i think)  except for me and K__ and our friend seth, i think there were 15 people there.  scott said the booze was free, to help ourselves. i might have overextended his offer though.   Undecided

I'm home sick from work today (I shoulda stayed home yesterday too). Alternating hills and sweats, feeling achy everywhere, and coughing up lungs. Blech!

Rockestra Theme, one of Paul McCartney's harder-rocking songs, was recorded on October 3, 1978, at Abbey Road Studios. Musicians who performed on this song (and 'So Glad To See You Here', an album track from Back To The Egg): Denny Laine, Laurence Juber, David Gilmour, Hank Marvin, Pete Townshend (guitars), Steve Holly, John Bonham, Kenney Jones (drums), Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones (pianos), Ronnie Lane, Bruce Thomas (bass guitars), Gary Brooker, Linda McCartney, Tony Ashton (keyboards), Speedy Acquaye, Tony Carr, Ray Cooper, Morris Pert (percussion), Howie Casey, Tony Dorsey, Steve Howard, Thaddeus Richard (horns).

Paul McCartney in a 2001 interview with VH1 said that Keith Moon was to have taken part in "Rockestra" but died one month before the recording sessions took place. Kenney Jones, who replaced Moon on drums within The Who, appeared instead.

"Rockestra Theme" won the 1980 Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

The song was performed again at the Concerts for the People of Kampuchea and released on the album and EP of the same name.

The song was used as under the opening credits of the California Go! rad BMX sports show on ESPN.
