I also seem to remember that the Bob-chats-with-the-kids-and-tosses-free-beers-into-the-crowd bit killed a good chunk of one case.

i saw gbv at the Bluebird in Bloomington IN - had the styrofoam cooler by bob and I think he drank 3/4 of them.  No tossing to the audience though...

i have booked some bands in the last year who have been on Letterman, Leno, and Conan but not what consider rock gods or anything and their riders were as follows:

hot meals for 5 with veggie option

1 bottle of Knob Creek bourbon
12  bottles Red Stripe Beer
12 bottles of FIJI spring water
raw fresh organic ginger
5-7 fresh organic lemons
Organic raw clover honey
Organic hummus
Fresh pita bread
one box of condoms

another

24 cold bottles of Evian water
24 cold cans of Redbull
24 cold bottles of rolling rock and heineken
1 bottle of Jack Daniels
2 packs of Camel Lights
6 vegetarian meals
1 bottle of multi vitamin pills
2 large pizzas, i chees and 1 pepperoni to be provided within 30 ininutes of end of performance

at the pitchfork festival where I worked on the stage crew, one band wanted everyone removed from the backstage area including stage crew and stage manager.  They relented after we asked them if they were loading all their gear on by themselves

WHAT A BUNCH OF PRIMADONNAS!!!!  HOLY SHIT!

Our rider had

12 pack of beer
bottle of scotch
socks
battery (for fx pedal)
snacks

and usually we just got the beer.

we stole the idea for socks from the flaming lips. Every now and then someone who really liked us would get the full rider but that was extremely rare.  And it's pretty much a given that you're gonna get beer and at least some nachos. Most of the time the club or promoter is required to feed us. Which meant either they'd give you a buy-out (usually ten bucks) so you could just go eat somewhere. or they'd order pizzas or they'd have a deal worked out with a restaurant or whatever. Actually that's how I discovered my love for indian food. The Grog Shop in cleveland was next door to a fantastic indian restaurant.

i feed everyone, local opening bands sometimes too, usually with buyouts.  I have no problem with that.  Those 2 were just kind of funny to me.  THe other band that was on the bill had a rider similar to yours and I gave them a big tip becuase of their little rider.  They thought it was funny and nice of me
