Hi, all.

I awoke to a rainy day. And I had such big plans today, too.

I started reading The Cube And The Cathedral. Basically it's this dude saying that the reason Europe was involved in 2 world wars is because they forgot about God, and that the seculaization of the U.S. will inevitably lead to big big problems. Can't say I totally agree, but his argument is interesting, and he's a good writer. My summary doesn't come near to explaining the book, but you guys won't ever read it, so what does it matter?

Sounds like reactionary sophistry to me, and the fact that you think it's well written only makes it worse.  Well written bullshit gives me the rash.

is ever'body sick from the green beer, etc?  i don't really celebrate st. patty's per say. at least not in the traditional sense.  st. patty's is K__ and i's "unofficial" anniversary.  we had been hanging out for a little while but it was kinda consumated on st. patty's.  so it has been the celebratory date ever since.  yesterday marked 13 years.  we had been saying 14, but then actually did the math.  we usually just lay low unless it's a weekend.  yesterday, i fused a wee bit of irish into the mix though. i made a kind of asian version of corned beef and cabbage for our dinner.  chinese 5-spice broiled beef with bok choy cabbage sauteed with sesame, ginger, brown sugar, and soy.  with a little spicy added.  then boiled new potatoes on the side.  it was spicier than i intended, so i kept the soy milk handy to cool my mouf off.  no alcohol.  it was a long weekend.  we were in bed by 10:00.

Read the summary on amazon, and a review by someone at the Wall Street Journal.  I didn't read anything that makes me reconsider my first impression i.e. bullshit.

I don't want to sound insulting, but what I've read of the guys main points on the Wall street Journal Review makes me think that the guy is either intellectually lazy, downright dishonest, or both...  Right wing american ideologues have been propagating this kind of bullshit for years now.

nope, I laid low.   had a couple beers, played a lil music.    I was surrounded by drunken mobs all day at work yesterday, I think that spoiled my thirstiness.

I don't care if the guy is right or wrong in his assessment.  If secularism causes the end of civilization, that's fine with me.  I'd rather not live any other way.

i drank at my house with some friends, trying to make it a "lowkey" night after rehearsal. well, whiskey shots happened, as did lots of vodka, as did a bunch of gay drama at about 2:30 a.m.
