and mine has been sore.
Once again, this year I have ignored the festivities. I usually can't wait until sxsw is over. Yeah, I saw a good show there once. Der Grifters knocked me socks off at Electric Lounge one night. Then later, GBV put them back on and knocked them off again at Liberty Lunch. But this was what, 1996? I haven't been to sxsw since.

So here's what's up with Trompe, since everyone is dying to know. Or barely curious. Anyways..

If you didn't know, I have my own little auto repair shop. Specifically, I fix cosmetic damage. Dents, dings, hail damage, etc.  There's another shop that does the same thing here and has been here since 1991. Much bigger operation, much more established, all that. And I had become pretty good chums with the owner. Very decent and ethical guy, even helped me get started when I moved here. Well, he had a heart attack and died in December. It was crazy. He was 43 and in good health. No warning signs. It really broke my heart. But life goes on, yes? Anyways, recently, his widow came to see me at my place. I had only met her at the funeral. Turns out the guy spoke well of me and had told her he planned to ask me if I wanted to partner up with him. Which I would have. I liked the guy that much. So she basically asks if I want to take his business over. No one else around is really qualified to do it, and she's really just trying to do what she thinks he would have wanted. She's giving me the place for a song. Basically just wants me to take over the expenses and let her recover the money she's out from the place sitting there the past few months. Long story short, I took the deal and have been furiously busy with the details and getting it going again ever since. Which is why I have not been crappiting here lately.

All the stress and workload wore me down and I got way fucking sick for a week. I got the strep throat with a bad sinus infection to boot. I could not sleep very well last week because my throat was so sore I could hardly swallow. I would fall asleep but wake myself up when I swallowed. It was most hectic. I got some really strong antibiotics and some vicodin prescribed to me and I am on the mend now. Ok, so maybe I am taking more vicodin than it says on the bottle. Ain't I allowed to feel good after what I've been through? And who are you guys to judge me, anyways? For fuck's sake!

So, that's what's been up. I missed gabbing with you all, internetz style. No computer connection at the new shop yet. It's not like I have had time to be online anyways.

I bet no one even missed me!
