hey, evan.

Was at Dan's today and your great video came up. We even tried to explain it to R____.

Dan's baby is adorable and she has some pipes on her.

Anyway, good video.

On the subject of videos, there is something great about this video. At first it made me sad and then I thought it was somewhat beautiful.

Of course, it might be melancholy.

What is happening with Clinton? I am lost. I think America needs a military coup or a revolution or both. The HYSTERIA is profoundly embarrassing to watch...I am not sure which would be my first target, the press or the government. What a disaster. America is the last country I believe should be "exporting democracy".

They shouldn't be allowed to hype up the election process the same way they do a celebrity scandal. That's the commentary part, the actual coverage resembles the half time analysis of a football game.

Absolute madness.

I tried reading into the Spitzer case and stopped about two minutes in realizing it doesn't fucking matter in the least. Bush's PNAC buddies got at least several hundred thousand people killed, as many as a million wounded, and several million refugees of war. Yeah, let us ignore that and pad the news with gibberish about imaginary scandal of the night.

The Americans left us to talk abooooot their government again.

(But, like the non-crappity Americans, trying not to think about Matt's last post and that haunting and disturbing photo.)

On that bury-my-head-in-the-sand note

BF... The F1? Did you watch tonight? I was on the phone and missed the entire qualifying race. But I caught the post-game interviews. That's the main thing, right? Lewis Hamilton in the pole position.

JeffWerbo and I always get a lot of drunken mileage (get it? car racing? mileage?  Roll Eyes ) outta saying that. Pole position.

Also, I don't believe my rant contained anything that would offend. I do believe we agree that the media is mental and the government is sick. No? It has nothing to do with the people and it is the furthest thing from slamming another country or making fun - it distresses me. Dan can back me up on the distress thing...I am a distressed boy. What was I talking about when you told me I was going to get an ulcer? Advertising?

Why do I care? Who knows. For the same reason I would care about dead children in Iraq. I am merely sensitive. The whole world is upside down.

That line of Bukowski's...it is all there in front of us, but they won't let us have it?

Something like that. I read it years ago and I should really track it down because I reference it enough.

He was saying that there is no reason for our existence to be structured this way, and that the whole world is just sitting here around us...and we chose to spoil it.

In every way imaginable.

Speaking of Memphis bands (and I'm not implying anything about special/nuthin' special here), just noticed an ad for April gigs at the Horseshoe (and bebop, it's Tavern, not lounge Wink ) that Lucero is playing. Since I never pay attention to anything on crappity (knnch), should I go?

I think I'm one of the only ones here who cares much for Lucero. And I don't love 'em, I just like 'em enough. They're a ragged, noisy, alt-country inflected bar band with a (sometimes annoyingly) yowling singer and they often tread in the same waters as the Replacements, not in terms of lyrical insight (they seldom offer any) but in terms of songs about being a loser that they sing like their lives depend on it. They're better live than on record, though they've been dabbling in Springsteen-type stuff of late and I haven't seen them in this vein. Their drummer kicks ass.

From the urban dictionary:

Strange - A clever, still slightly naughty, synonym for more profane terms like 'pussy' or 'trim'.

It sucks when you have to explain. It would've gone over better at the Apollo.
