I don't think there ever be a candidate from the two major parties I could back without some reservations, but Obama is closer than they've managed in quite a while (not counting Dean's near miss). Not sure why you can't ease up on that one, Matthew.

I mean, for me, the two key issues in the upcoming election are immigration (duh) and civil rights. Of those up for the presidency, Obama is way out in front of everyone on those two issues. And so, he has my vote.

The thread was created in jest...as for easing up...you cannot imagine how eased up I have been. Which makes me uneasy, tense and miserable. I am well aware it is my problem to deal with and I may have to leave Crappity for an indefinite amount of time...until I figure out what to do.

If it means anything at all: I am aware that Obama would probably be the least worst outcome of the election process if held between only the three leading corporate candidates, but that does not mean I welcome it as enthusiastically as John Leguizamo.

My anger stems from Obama's insinuation that he is "anti-war" or even a progressive voice in American politics. He is neither. He is a stooge for corporate law and lobbyists (though he has been remarkably successful in masking his PAC donations) and has been absolutely status quo on the war (though he has managed to blot out America's collective memory between his 2002 "anti-war" speech and the beginning of his Presidential campaign). Besides his non-stop lying, I am absolutely disgusted by the behaviour of the Democratic party, who have cynically benefited from their own failures to mount an opposition to the Bush Presidency.

Well, "failure" is generous - they had no opposition to mount (save for a few - not counting Obama).

When I first griped about Obama I had no idea that y'all were voting for him. I just wasn't paying close enough attention.

I hear you on immigration, but as for civil rights...I just worry about those of the Arab Palestinians, Columbians, Serbs, Iraqis, Afghanis, Iranians,  etc. all of whom will continue to die under his foreign policy.

I know that the idea of sacrificing one's vote to someone who cannot and will not win is unpopular...but I am unwilling to put my own name down on the ledger.

I do hold myself to this standard, believe it or not. No one I have voted for has won a seat and I do not particularly care that...I vote for who I agree with, not for whom I believe might block the somewhat worse bad guy.

Shit, I am really digging a hole here? I am only typing out my thoughts...I have a feeling my thoughts are taken as screeds always...I will employ CAPS when I feel like screaming or lecturing.

I might arguewith you on one thing or another Matthew, but I certainly don't want you going anywhere.

Crappity ain't crap when you're not around.

i think it's pretty obvious that (basically?) all the U.S. crappiteers are voting for him, so i just think it might be more appropriate to let this one go. i'm all for some debate, but there is no winning this argument. slagging just for slagging's sake seems pointless and infuriating.

okay, i'm leaving again.

...
'til i post again.
