I don't know if y'all remember this post, but yesterday my Dad's oldest bro, "Sonny", died.  He had cancer for several years; tripped and fell this weekend; lapsed into a coma and died in his morphine-assisted sleep.  He's second from the left in the picture.  So, PMAs all around for my Pops and his siblings...

the RIAA has gone totally fucking mad.

they've been calling my museum fairly regularly trying to get us to pay them money because sometimes during museum events/functions we play cds over the PA.  thewy started with a trick "survey".  one of the questions apparantly was something like, "when you have openings, fuctions, rentals, etc. what kind of entertainment is provided?" "is there house music?" "where does the music come from?"  apparantly at some point, one of the desk people answered, "mostly from cds and ipods".  since then they are calling constantly asking for money.  fuckers.

what are you doing this weekend?? i have to go see a musical out in collierville tonight. if it wasn't one of my main gays, i would neverevernerver spend a friday night this way, but i have to. gaddammit.

then tomorrow, i have to have a girls night with a friend who is going through a messy divorce. my weekend is going to RULE. opposite of this:



although, we are having a big gay oscar party sunday night. that should be fun and catty.

hello!

my friday evening will consist of setting up the museum for tomorrow's "passport to the land of the rising sun" japan-themed family arts fair.  my tomorrow consists of coordinating/emceeing/otherwise making sure everything continues to run smoothl;y as 500 kids, parents, etc.  spend the afternoon doing japanese crafts (lanterns, fans, origami, fish kites, cherry blossom prints, etc.) while martial artists, geisha girls and other various japanimaniacs entertain the masses.  then i get to clean it all up.  sunday i have to strike (take down) the youth art focus exhibit (over 500 pieces of kid's art) and re-package everything according to school so the teachers can pick up all of the work on monday.  so basically my weekend consists of a little bit of and a whole lot of

y'know, i do the videography for our local art museum (the brooks museum of art) and they have been super gung-ho about all these types of children's programs the past couple of years. i get to come out and film them all and they are such cool events. i love that stuff. are yours free, too?

WOW, did my day suck. The "one and a half hour" job I got talked into for a TGI Friday's ended up being a 7 1/2 hour job that required $500 more in parts than I thought.

Eh... it's nothing 9 or 10 beers can't fix. How was your week?
