Anybody live in Chapel Hill or D.C.? The mighty Polvo is playing those cities in May. They're getting back together to play that All Tomorrow's Parties thing in Europe. Guess they're doing some warm up shows in the states. I like the Polvo.

DC is only a 4 hour drive. That sounds worth it to me.

The show was great. Sector Zero opened up. They are Zach and Eric Oblivion (who both run Goner records btw) they pretty much just did covers but they were all tasty and pretty funny too.
Then we played. I guess it's cause of the Harlan connection but right before we started the place filled up quick. We did about 9 songs. I'd say they were slower, loungier versions of the songs than usual. Quinn and Brenden looked very cool and mysterious on their side of the stage. I stood between Bruce on drums and Harlan who played moroccas, tambourine, and lots of special fx geetars (e-bow, flange, lots of psychedelia) and I played about as simply as I've ever played. Extremely minimalist. But I think I had a nice warm sound going on. Heavy distortion but played quietly so it kinda creates an electric cello kinda sound.
I think I only fucked one or two things up but so did everyone else. Shawn was jumping around like a maniac to the point that me and harlan kinda stood off the stage to give him room (Murphy's stage is about 5 inches off the ground).
I was planning on packing up my stuff and splitting but the guitarist from Spider-bags asked to use my rig. And he pretty much said it was because he spied my SUNN head. So I said sure and ended up staying til the very end. They were great by the way. Shawn and Bruce both got up and sang with the band much to the band's surprise. I was surprised they knew the songs so well. After the show, guitarist dude was praising my amp Spinal Tap style: "the sustain was like 'WAAAAAAAAAAAHH". To which I responded: "you can go..go and have a bite and still be hearin' that one."
I got home around three am.

The show was great.........
good news. hope you were able to get at least part of the day off. so...whens the next limes gig? think they would want to play crappitystock? "you can go..go and have a bite and still be hearin' that one." i can't explain it, but this stuff never gets old. i heart spinal tap references.
