tried to watch the Darjeeling Limited last night.  Still plan on finishing it but it wasn't really grabbing me.  Visually it's great.  Looks like Wes Anderson went to India and was like "oo, I'm gonna do an entire movie on this train"  but if it weren't in this exotic setting the story wouldn't be strong enough to carry the movie.

But I haven't finished it so we'll see.

And the Hotel Chevalier at the beginning..?  Did they conceive of this as a way of getting Natalie Portman naked? Cause that seemed to be about the only point.

I finally saw Bottle Rocket on Wed night.    S'weird how long it took me, as I am a total sucker for Wes Anderson.

It was warm and funny, but not what it had been built up to by friends (or in my own mind).   I know a couple different people that had absolutely swore by that movie, and suggested that everything after it was just a weak echo of it.

Sorry.. I didn't see that at all.  It looks like a practice run.   The script wasn't as satisfying, and the visual style wasn't anywhere near as complete.   

Still liked it, I just was mislead into thinking that was the Rosetta Stone of Anderson flicks.

that flipbook sure would be some damning evidence, eh?  agree with capt.  good movie, but it ain't no Rushmore.  i would actually place it third behind Royal T but just ahead of Life Aquatic.  and i think LA was great, probably better scripted, shot, produced, etc. but i think BR has more "multiple viewing" capability, and therefore edges it out a wee bit.  have not seen the darjeeling one., as po-dunk pensacola didn't even get it in the theatres.

man, i wish i was hanging out with you guys.  sex, drugs, rocknroll and gettin funky.  much better than my weekend.  i gotta wait the fucking tables tonight, (although when i get off there's a HOT NEW MEXICANS show waiting for me at sluggos), then wait the fucking tables tomorrow night, then tend the fucking bar on sunday night.  what's worse:  everything i make this weekend has to go straight into the bank on monday to ensure my mortgage check i just sent out doesn't bounce.  i swear, the more money i make eachj year, the broker i get.  it just don't make any sense.
