We rocked that shit out, but good! If anyone's band is coming to Austin, I highly recommend Club Deviile. Super nice people and great sound. We were the first of 3 bands and it was already crowded when we went on around 10. Even got free drinks and still got paid.  RAWK!

Dragoon needs to come play here. That's all I am gonna say about it. Just get some time freed up.
Home needs to come play here.
All Crappity bands need to come play here.

Oh, tonight and tomorrow night is the Reivers reunion here in town. Anyone remember the Reivers? It's my buddy John Croslin's old band from the 80's! They were on DB records out of Atlanta, then they signed with Capitol and put out a couple records there before calling it quits. John was the producer/engineer supreme in Austin until he stopped recording a few years ago. He recorded the first couple Spoon records, he recorded some of GBV's "Under the Bushes..", and he recorded some Pavement stuff at some point. He also recorded my old band and part of the first sad like crazy album. He almost joined our band as well.

Tripp, you played on some of that GBV record. did John record it?

Anyway, here's their space http://www.myspace.com/thereiversofficial

Yeah, they used to be Zeigeist but then had to change their name. They were a really good live band back in the day. I saw them at a place in Dallas called the Theater Gallery, or maybe it was somewhere else, back in the mid-80s. Hunter Darby, bass player for the Wannabes, used to have a tumultuous on-again-off-again thing with the chick who played bass for Zeitgeist (Cindy something?).  Anyway, just some useless information.  My Two Cents

yeah, i should have mentioned they started as Zeitgeist.

Around 98-99, John moved to San Francisco to work as an engineer at Tiny Telephone Studios, the studio owned by John Vanderslice. It was around this time that Mari had a job offer out in S.F.  John called me and said, move out here and I will join your band and we will practice and record at Tiny Telephone. I was like, fuck yes. But when we went out there, Mari did not like the company and we just didn't feel it was the place for us. So it didn't happen. John ended up only staying out there a couple years himself before returning to Austin. But he did meet his wife Angie while he was there.

Then a few years ago, he just quit recording. I don't really know why. I am hoping to get him to come into another studio here to engineer some stuff for our band. I likes the guy a lot.

The following is here for purely comic reasons, and is not meant as a discriminatory attack on our Muslim sisters. It just popped into my head this morning, and I thought I'd share it.

I don't think i met that guy John. When they were in memphis recording I think it was just Kim Deal producing.
(I did the guitar solo on Iron man Rally Song)

Trompe if you can book us some shows in Tejas then we'll get something going for you in Tejjasee .  Maybe we can book a little tour together.. I would effing live that.

I can book Austin, Houston, maybe Denton. We haven't played there in a long time but we used to have a pretty good relationship with Rubber Gloves, the best venue there.
It's pretty easy to get shows in San Antonio at TacoLand, but it's a shit hole. I love it, but it's a dump.

Tripp I would love to put a Texas thing together. Find out when your guys could free up the time and how many dates you could do. I'll do the rest. I don't think we could swing a Tennessee thing right now for a few different reasons, but I know we'd love to do it a little down the road.

You never did send me a damn cd of your stuff though. What kind of piece a shit you think I am?
