I actually did like Barton Fink. John Turturro reminded me of many of my clients. Obnoxious, pretentious, etc. = fun times at work!

I also liked John Mahoney's drunk writer role. Reminded me of someone...

So, in my recent attempts at occasional sobriety I discovered (or remembered) that I have nightmares. I think the key to a good night (of normal insomnia, sans nightmare) sleep is to stay on the sauce.

I found The Big Lebowski to be genius. Not high art, but brilliant comedy.
Also, I have been saying all along that the media is backing Clinton, and that she is the choice of the liberal elite. I do not believe I would be inclined to vote at all if Edwards was not on the ballot. HE would be my "lesser evil", I could not stomach the other two front runners.
The good news is: the Right seems to have its head buried so deep in its own ass you might mistake them for Democrats. The Reagan Era has imploded, and the party has splintered into incongruous shards. An authoritarian-evangelicalist who is trying to placate the conservative core (which I expect is fed up with the Christian Right at this point) with a death-to-the-poor flat tax rate offer [Huckabee]; thuggish little despot with only more exciting new wars on his mind, ignoring the fact that people are looking to forget the one dragging on now [Giuliani]; and then there is Romney, a man who, despite managing to overcome the Mormon issue with help from the conservative press is so thoroughly unlikeable that no one wants to vote for him.
Unless the Christian Right forgives Romney for being a Mormon, I can only see McCain continuing to rise.
I said to a friend many months ago that I thought it looked like the Republican party was going to "throw the election", or at least not kill themselves trying. (i.e. not risk any viable candidates and let all these yahoos with no chance in hell run). For their sacrifice they will have at least four years to rebuild whatever remains of their party.

I loved Barton Fink; I liked Hudsucker Proxy more than I should (but I have seen it too many times because W___ had a copy for some reason); Raising Arizona is growing on me more each time I see it, Miller's Crossing was a favoruite in high school, but I need to see it again; Fargo and Big Lebowski I love; The Man Who Wasn't There seemed like imitation-Coen Brothers and far too stylistically obvious and cliched (I really did not care for it overall)...never saw the others, if I am missing any.
I feel like I should finally give O, Brother another shot...I reacted quite poorly to George Clooney the first time around (and returned it to the store, I believe).
