Performance-enhancement isn't just for athletes anymore.

Quote
Mary J. Blige has slammed reports linking her to a steroid investigation in the U.S., insisting she has never taken the performance-enhancing drug. The Grammy award-winning star, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Wyclef Jean and actor Tyler Perry have all been accused of ordering steroids or human growth hormone from doctors and pharmacists. Albany County District Attorney David Soares named the celebrities who featured in his investigation on Sunday. But Blige vehemently denies any involvement. The singer's spokeswoman Karynne Tencer tells the New York Daily News, "Mary J. Blige has never taken any performance-enhancing illegal steroids." Authorities have uncovered no evidence the celebrities violated any drug laws.

I thought I noticed Tyler Perry's scripts getting more macho.

I watched Terminator episodes 1 & 2 last night.  Not too shabby.

The first ep was more like a mini Terminator movie with all out Terminator warfare.

The 2nd was much more low key and tv-style.  Slow down, develop the characters and situation.  Still there were some good fight scenes, going for a forceful Tony Jaa style.  Pretty cool.

Summer Glau, as the "good" Terminator, plays a pretty good robot.  Creepy.  Pretty similar to the character she played in Joss "Buffy" Whedon's Firefly, in which she was a human programmed to be a weapon.  Cheg it oot.

So will Billboard put an asterisk next to MJB's hot 100 chart positions now?

Judge grants Kucinich entry to NV Democratic presidential debate

By Ken Ritter
ASSOCIATED PRESS

7:18 p.m. January 14, 2008

LAS VEGAS – NBC News said it will appeal a judge's ruling rather than include Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich in a candidates' debate Tuesday in Nevada.

“We disagree with the judge's decision and are filing an appeal,” said a statement provided for the network by Jeremy Gaines, a communications vice president for MSNBC. He said the network would seek an immediate hearing before the Nevada Supreme Court.

Senior Clark County District Court Judge Charles Thompson on Monday sided with a lawyer for the Ohio congressman, who submitted transcripts of e-mails that appeared to show debate host MSNBC and a Democratic party liaison initially invited Kucinich to take part in the debate before telling him last week he was cut from the lineup.

“Had it been established at the beginning that they'll only take the top three for the debates, I wouldn't have any problem enforcing it,” Thompson told lawyers for NBC Universal Inc. at a hastily convened hearing on the lawsuit, filed Monday in Clark County District Court in Las Vegas.

“I'm somewhat offended that a legitimate candidate was invited to a debate and then uninvited under circumstances that appear to be that they just decided to exclude him,” the judge said.

Las Vegas lawyer Donald Campbell, NBC lawyer Coby Williams and NBC Political Director Chuck Todd declined to say whether Kucinich would be added to the debate lineup or whether the event would be canceled if the appeal fails.

Campbell and Bill McGaha, the Las Vegas lawyer representing Kucinich, said later that the judge told them he would sign an order early Tuesday to include Kucinich in the debate.

“The whole intent is to include him and for the debate to go forward,” McGaha said.

Campbell said the broadcaster would “seek additional legal redress.”

The cable news network and the Democratic party have billed the 6 p.m. debate as a chance for Nevada's minority communities to pose questions to three front-runners – Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards. Tim Russert and Brian Williams are scheduled to moderate.

“A determination was made that ... they were going to go with just the top three,” Campbell told the judge. He argued that the state court had no jurisdiction; that Federal Communications Commission broadcast rules do not apply to cable TV networks; and that Kucinich had not exhausted administrative remedies available through the FCC.

Campbell noted that the FCC rejected Kucinich's bid to be included in a Jan. 5 debate from New Hampshire on ABC. The network said at the time that Kucinich, Mike Gravel and Republican Duncan Hunter failed to meet benchmarks for support.

Kucinich drew less than 2 percent of the Democratic vote in the New Hampshire primary, after attracting little support and no delegates in the Iowa caucus.

But Thompson said it was a matter of fairness to include Kucinich, and said voters would benefit.

“I don't think that just deciding that just three is good enough for the state of Nevada is a legitimate basis,” he said.

unfortunately, dennis has beem getting screwed like this left and right for months.  the irony is that ALL of the top 3 candidates have made the issues that he first addressed as critical to this election(health care, civil liberties, corporate stranglehold, etc.) their main themes, once they realized that dennis was right and the majority of the public agreed.  stealing his thunder and punishing him for it.

which really isn't the worst thing in the world.    his campaign got a couple of worthwhile issues into the debate.  sometimes thats the sole purpose of a candidacy.

Probably.

Did you notice that, once again, the witch hunt is racially motivated?

Once this probe starts getting deeper, I predict that Garth Brooks will be exposed as music's Roger Clemens, with more needle holes in his ass than a pin cushion.

Finally saw No Country For Old Men.  Wow. What a good movie. Their best since Fargo for sure.
And Fargo came out, what, 12 years ago? Loved it.
