this weekend was a bust.  We didn't do the show saturday night cause Bobby's dog died. Like, in his arms. Very sad. me and S____ took them some comfort food and beer.


Me and Bobby played guitars some. We've been talking about doing some of the grifters songs that are mostly mine. I started playing some of them and Bobby's like "what? I didn't know you wrote that!" . So it looks like in the coming months I will be donning a guitar for some Dragoon shows. Possible cover candidates are

there are obviously other songs that have my fingerprints on them but those are the most heavily 'me'.

Yesterday we were suppose to have band practice but Bobby's wife scratched her cornea. Yeah, they're having a great weekend.  Me and Stan ended up having a horribly sloppy rhythm section practice.

i think "holmes" and "covered with flies"  would make excellent dragoon songs.  ("coat of silence" would too, btw.  would like to hear how bobby would animate those lyrics, some of my favorite of all grifters lyrics)

also, maybe it's a stupid question (because it seems obvious to me) but the line in "contact me now" that goes "i turned the song around and made it sound more like it came from me" is about ripping off deep purple, right?

I heard Fixed in the sky Friday night during a booze and shrimp filled frenzy. Added to my list of tunes I need to turn on my friends too.

It's funny cause I just had my ipod on shuffle and was jotting down tunes that I was digging. As the night went on, my handwriting just disinegrates into nonsense.

I practically need a Rosa Stone to figure it out.

I remember a few years back i used a line from contact me now for a post title...something about it being tuesday the 4th day of november and it actually was tuesday the fourth day of november.

Also the first time i heard space out I can totally remember cause I was quite spaced out and almost ran into the back of a stopped car. It was like I should have been paying attention since it was a bumpy road, but on that ride it seemed like the holes had become smooth.

that line was the cause of a major fight between me and dave.  That song is pretty much all mine except for lyrics and dave wrote the one part in the middle of the song that leads into 'picture you calling me.."

well dave kept changing my arrangement and doing what he constantly did at the time which is take my stuff, mellow it out, make it sound like Bastard Souls, and essentially suck everything that was fun out of it.

I had to FIGHT to keep my arrangement which I didn't appreciate at all. And then on top of that he throws that bullshit line in at the beginning of the song which essentially means 'turn the song around and make it sound more like it came from me'  i.e.,  make it sound less like tripp's song.  there's no need for that line cause right after it the 'story' begins. It's just something he threw in to get under my skin and it worked.
