I do suggest that anyone with a cool avatar they wish to keep, should save to their computer or at least upload it to a photo site.

There's a spot in your member profile edit thingamabob where you can upload avatars ionto an avatar-specific directory that never gets purged.

How to upload yr avatar:

• Find whatever image you want as your avatar and save it to your computer.
• Click on the blue "Profile" button from near the top of the page.
• Then, from the "Modify Profile" heading on the left, pick "Forum Profile Information"
• Then pick the "I will upload my own picture:" option and use the browse button to find the file on your computer
• go to the bottom of the page and click "Send Profile"

Then enjoy your fabulous new avatar. While the attachments section will likely still be purged from time to time, the avatars section will never be purged.
