it's totally not. I burned a few cd's to aid hype.
tryin to book some shows out of town. and it's working!

which way you heading?  or are they more "out and back" type gigs of the little rock (saw that one) and nashville variety?  st. louis? jackson?  i'd drive to jackson fo sho.  but that's a pretty lame town for gigs these days now that the midnight sun and corner bar are both kaput.  you can always head a little further south.  Cheesy

we might be headed up chicago way before the year is out. I'd like to do some weekend tours. like, maybe a nashville/knoxville weekend. maybe a st.louis/fayetteville weekend..
I wanna get out of the south a little bit.

Oh, I listened to that It's a Wonderful Life again (I've heard three albums by Sparklehorse...two of them I barely remember from college) and I realized that it is the guy's voice I don't care for, and that the music is quite pleasant. The best track is the one with T. Waits.

I'm with ya.   I am really sensitive to affected voices.  With a few exceptions, it just makes the whole affair seem like a put on.

my dad's house burned down last night.  just found out. i was just over there (defuniak springs, fl) last week before we went to the fsu-alabama game, going through all kinds of old shit.  photos, toys from when i was a kid, old family heirloom documents (civil war era and earlier) and just checking shit out.  all of it gone. 150 year old pre-victorian historic home.  i'm pretty bummed.  WHAT'S NEXT??

Ouch!  Sorry to hear that, Pat.

And now for something completely different... R____'s brother is going through a major psychotic meltdown.  His mental health always was a bit fragile, and we suspected that he suffered from a mild case of schizophrenia.  Well, it's more than just a mild case.  He hears voices and all the usual shit associated with schizophrenia, and he presently believes that repeatedly screaming "do re mi fa sol la si do" or whatever will help prevent some kind of world wide disaster.

Never a dull moment.

WHAT'S NEXT??

sorry to post nothing but bad news lately, (i'll come around eventually, i'm sure) but to answer the above question that i thought i asked rhetorically,  my aunt connie just died. i get back from lunch and there's this note on my desk. "your mom called. aunt connie passed."  she's had cancer for a while, and she's been sick lately, so it's no real shock, but JEEZUS.  (shaking fist at sky. making sure i have on rubber soled shoes for when the lightning comes)

Fuckity fuck fuck!  It's like reading the Book of Job!
