somebody the other day mentioned the jesus christ pose, so I figured it was time to get some soundgarden on my pod. So I put superunkown and badmoterfinger on it.

So today on the way to work the first two songs --the day i tried to live and superunkown came on.

Nice.

Hey I saw Feist on the apple Ipod commerical.

I'm telling you Matt, the key to Ganesha's success is to get one of them Broken Social Scene members in your band. Hell there's like a hundred of them, you could probably ask some guy walking the train tracks and he probably was in either them or the new pornographers.

in a way "superunkown" and "barbecue" from emmet otter's jugband christmas are trying to say the same thing...

from superunkown...

If this doesn't make you free
It doesn't mean you're tied
If this doesn't take you down
It doesn't mean you're high
If this doesn't make you smile
You don't have to cry
If this isn't making sense
It doesn't make it lies

and from Barbecue...

When you meet somebody that don't like soul food
They still got a soul
And it don't mean that you got no rhythm
If you don't like rock 'n roll

would love to hear the riverbottom nightmare band do a cover of black hole sun.

I can't remember if it was the fish...but would love to hear them hit those high notes.

Cornell has some range.

Pipes right, that's what they're called in the business.

my 7 year old asked that I make a cd full of tunes. Thought it would be easy...but then I realized the music I pick could greatly affect his future. Plus I had to be careful about language (even though it rocks, I don't need a note coming home from his teacher sayin that he was singing "f you I won't do what you tell me!" or some depressing stuff that makes him want to realize this is all shit and run away to costa rica and live off the land...or at least the tourists.

So this is what I came up with...

ac/dc tnt -- he knows this song from the tony hawk skateboard game. One of my favorites when I was younger also.

Cochise -- Audioslave...kids heard this a couple of years ago and for some reason refered to it as "dinosaur music"

Yellow submarine...the classics...probably should have put octupus garden on there...another good visual song...they already know I am the Walrus.

The Rising -- Springsteen.  He liked this one a few years back.

Rock and roll music -- beatles version.
jail house rock -- elvis
satisfaction -- the stones... i got into the stones when i was kid from my dad...might as well pass that along.
sloop john b -- beach boys...fun song
subterranean homesick blues -dylan  -- never liked dylan when i was a kid...but figured the word play in this song would be fun
looking out my back door -- CCR -- who can resist tamborines and elephants playing in the band
purple haze
rock the casbah
space oddity
roadhouse blues
sweet home alabama
another one bites the dust
rock and roll high school
low rider
pump it up
tom sawyer
jump
smells like teen spirt

so it's alot of old classic rock and few newer stuff.

Now I told him if hears anything new from other kids let me know and I'll see what we can do.

Sorry no Grifters...didn't want to damage him too early.

They really need to get back together.  hell, even with Jason Bonham on drums, I'd buy that ticket.

damn...that's who I forgot...i wanted to put rock and roll but couldn't find the disc. I actually don't have IV. Had it on cassette years ago. Had that box set they put out around a decade ago. Lost the disc with rock and roll on it.

man it's been a long time.

that would be great, but most likely impossible since Chuck had a stroke and can't move half his face and Weasel found God and gave up rock and roll.

saw it in one of those "beyond the music"

speaking of that, have you caught the new geicho commericals with Jed clampet and the other one with the cabbage patch kids...man Geicho is making a killing with their commericals.

i'm kind of an "ultramega OK" man myself.  'flower' and 'beyond the wheel' are as good as soundgarden gets.  i like "louder than love" alright too.  i think soundgarden lost a bit of what made them cool on the later records.   (hiro yamamoto was sorely missed i think...)   i always thought kim thayil was somewhat of a badass.  what the hell is he doing these days?

chris cornell can eat my ass.  like a "sophisticated" dave navarro, that guy just gets lamer and lamer as time goes on.
