Only four days to the weekend! Hope you all had a terwiffic weekend.  Highlights of mine included:

jumping off the high dive at the town pool for the first time since I was probably in 8th grade...actually dived off. The funniest thing was seeing this ganged up looking latino...all inked up and and looking like he was ready to kick some ass, jumping off the high dive and holding his nose.

my little girl catching this huge bass yesterday when we were fishing...bigger than anything me and the boys ever caught the past two years.   (On a side note saw another snake there...between that and watching parts of Snakes on the Plane gave me some snake nightmares).

had a little get together sunday night with a few friends...built a nice little fire and toasted marsh mellows.

Now I'm back at work, trying to maintain that positive outlook that everything is alright...but man, this place sucks it from you fast...almost an hour and my corporate depression is already back.

I feel like I'm in need of a change...if it wasn't for the short commute I'd bail.

3 of my friends recently bailed on their jobs...

one was a cop (undercover narcotics...ha ha never caught me!)...now he's going to be a teacher.

one guy was at a place for 13 years...guess he went as far as he could and they offered him a severence package to leave...he took the summer off...has no clue what he's going to do when the money runs out.

another guy just left the corporate world to go work in the technology department of a college...think that's what I should look into...i mean besides all the coeds, he gets fridays off in the summer...the week at christmas off...and a bunch of other holidays...plus if he or his family wants to take classes there it's like a deep deep discount.

how about plumbing?

we had to have a plumber come over the other day...I thought i broke a pipe...when I could hear the water pouring through the wall and T_ _ _ downstairs yelling "why is there water coming through the ceiling?"

So the plumber came over...somebody I knew from High School...we've had him do some work in the past for us...but guess his prices went up...$135 an hour! ...guy's making over 2 dollars a minute!

And fuck me, turns out I didn't break the pipe...just unscrewed it, but I couldn't tell that because it was in the wall...I could of have fixed it myself...probably took him like 15 minutes...shit.

speaking of moths...

our cat loves to hunt moths and butterflies...I see her hopping around the backyard and there she is with a nice beautiful butterfly in her mouth.

It's really cute.

Just not for the butterfly.

so I've been reading cormac mccarthy's all the pretty horses (I read the road (now oprah's choice) and no country for old men (soon to be out in the movies)...highly reccomend both) and have a question.

There's quite a lot of spanish within the novel...and I know a little, and as I read it I have to translate it into words I know in English.

So my question is for anyone who is bi...now before you jump in JSG, I'm talking Bi-lingual...do you have to do that...or does the meaning of the words just mean one thing...like "cafe, por favor" i see that and think...Coffee please (at least I think por favor means please). Like is there a point where I wouldn't translate that into English.

It makes for an interesting read...that along with the fact that he doesn't use any quotation marks when folks are speaking.

some of you may remember the benefit show i mentioned last weekend for local musician john collins.  unfortunately, john's brain cancer got the best of him last night.  his friends and family(particularly his wife and son-pictured below) could probably use a few atoms if anyone's got a few spare ones you don't mind using on a stranger....
