I keep deleting the same spambots. 18 more this evening, many of which I've deleted before. WTF? I know we've said this before, but what the hell do they get out of it? Ugh.

So, what to make of Hunter Thompson's antics re: Alex Cox?
a) Genuinely upset and putting it on for the camera a bit & for the simple fun of giving Alex Cox a hard time?
b) Genuinely upset and would have acted the same with no camera present?
c) Genuinely upset but also a tad irrational/mentally unstable?

A mix of A and C. I think he was confused about the "cartoon wave" (which was a shitty idea) but as the reality of their ideas beyond that began to sink in, he found himself already too invested to back down.

Yeah, that was more or less my take. The bit afterwards when he explained the perfectly rational response to his agent in a sarcastic tone was hilarious. "What do you want me to say, 'I've known her for years and she never would have said that?' To which she laughed but admitted "Yes, that would have been nice."

Methinks he was difficult to be around in those last years.

May he rest in peace.

So, how far will the government elite go to prevent protest against Globalization?

At Montebello there has been an incident which CLEARLY reveals that the powers that be will do anything - even try and start their own riot - to silence the voices of protest.

As I mentioned, George W. Bush and Felipe Calderon are joining Canadian PM, Stephen Harper, in Montebello for the summit for the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). They are meeting with several dozen heads of most powerful businesses in the world (Lockheed-Martin, Wal-Mart, etc.) and decided on how to carve up human rights, resources (human and natural) and military defense. Again protesters were there to greet them (I was originally going to attend but everything I had planned for the last two weeks got cocked up), and they are not fond of that. Especially since people are beginning to pay attention.

What to do? I mean, when a riot occurs, most people in cushy North America roll their eyes at the "vandals" and "stupid kids" smashing windows and flipping off riot cops... in South America and South East Asia people doing this are fighting for their lives and well-being and EVERYONE KNOWS THE DEAL. Here most people are so fat, content and addicted to brain rot that they haven't the SLIGHTEST FUCKING CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON. So, the fat content people hear about a riot and flip the channel to American Idol or 24 or whatever.

Anyway, http://www.youtube.com/v/St1-WTc1kow three "protesters" who are a tad more militant than the others, insisting on violence. One of them who is far too burly and mature-looking for the way he is dressed (like an anarchist guy in his late teens or early twenties) and moving through the crowd. Though he is pretending to be coaxing the others to violence against the police line, he actually seems to be trying to start a fight with the union leader who is trying to talk him down. In fact, he shoves the union guy. At this point the ACTUAL anarchist types start yelling "POLICIERS! POLICIERS! POLICIERS! POLICIERS!" - none of the three rabble rousers appear to be with any other group (in fact no protesters could identify them, even in interviews afterward) and then start calling for the three men to lift their masks - which they wont. Instead, they slip through the police line - ....................................

YEAH...sure...three masked protesters -one armed with a large stone- were allowed to just walk through the police line, no problem.

#1. why do they flee from the other protesters and get themselves "arrested"? If they are actually hardcore anarchists?

#2. why is it so clear that there was an exchange between the police and the police dressed as protesters and that they clearly begin to let them through with no struggle, only realizing at the last second that it is rather obvious and then gently "rough them up" (push them a little) a bit and help them to the ground nicely like I have NEVER seen anyone arrested?

#3. why no charges and why is the government refusing to identify these people if they were actually arrested (and if they were, what were they arrested for?)

Yes, the riot police then added the theatrics of "cuffing them" as if they were "arresting them", but while doing so http://www.youtube.com/v/BWbgnyUCC7M

Yeah, OOPS. Perhaps if you are going to use agents provocateurs to deflate legitimate protest, you should at least have the guys change their standard Securite du Quebec (SQ) issue boots.

Fuckwads.

totally unrelated note...Matthew, one of our clients had a copy of Brick (mostly, a poetry anthology) delivered to our office which I have nabbed. I'll get the deets later, but there is (supposedly) a long lost Bukowski interview. I'll let you know...

Unfortunately, on first glance, the Bukowski interview is un-dated. I'll see if I can find out more soon.........
