this is how my brain works...

yesterday somebody, I believe moe, said something about a sugar spoon and posted some pictures of them.

I thought they looked a bit like daggers, which made me think of that Hendrix song Dolly Dagger.

So I had to listen to some Hendrix on the way to work this morning.

And Since it was raining I had to listen to Still raining still dreaming.

So I'm going to sit back and dream on this rainy day.

maybe you're running a bit fast.

I know I'm running to stand still.

Sidebar: Every now and then I download some old  tunes from Hype.com that pop up there...The Cars, Black Sabbath, INXS...some stuff I liked a long time ago...stuff that I might have on cassettes that never get played cause I don't have a cassette player that works any longer.

Anyways I usually throw these on my Ipod and forget about them until they pop up when I have the thing on shuffle.

Metal Health just came on.

Yes.

Do you know if all Christians read from the same bible? Like do the Baptists use the same New Testament as the Catholics?

I think they read whichever version makes them look holier than thou.

Not to get all preachy,  but I think the whole book, as a religious teachings guide, could be summed up in one sentence.

Love one another.

I think in the end after Jesus preached all his stuff he realized it was all bullshit and it all came down to just to people being nice to another and if we could just do that things would be alright.

But back then, standing in the desert, looking at the sea of Galile maybe this was still possible.

But not now.

I see the only end will be total destruction, no resolution.

And sorry but Your prayers won't be answered. God's too busy helping baseball players hit home runs and football players score touchdowns.

Yes.

No, they don't. Besides the numerous translations, many of many thousands of Christian denominations use different books (keeping in mind that the Bible is not a proper book, but a compendium of books), embracing some and rejecting others. Besides that, you have the difference of focus - what is preached and what is never even addressed. i.e. it might very well be in the Evangelical's Bible, but this does not mean that the Evangelical pays any attention to it.

This is one of the reasons almost any Christian "knows" that God Hates  Homosexuality, despite there being little or possibly even NO mention whatsoever of homosexuality in ANY of the Books. And that, of the Books they believe DO condemn the gay sex, they will rarely follow the rest of that same book (all the stoning-to-death in Leviticus, for example).

The general Bible-ignorance of the Religious is astounding. How many Christians have you heard condemn Islam's treatment of women? I have heard plenty. Where did Islam take its misogyny from? The Jews and Christian books of the Bible. I have heard time and time again that "Liberals hate every religion except Islam" (which isn't true. Personally, I don't hate any religion, I just have no need for them. I do, however, quite dislike great portions of all of them...including Islam) and that, gay-loving abortion-having liberals should get on the hate-Islam bus because they "hang gays in Iran". This is true. But what Surahs do they point to but the ones which retell the story of LOT from Genesis (Sodom & Gomorrah).
