We watched The Zodiac last night. I thought it was disjointed and not very suspenseful.

Is that a bass solo near the end with some sort of effect? I like that sound.

it's not the best mix. it was one of the songs where we recorded JUST  me and Stan, then Bobby came in later, after I'd constructed the rhythm track and he added vocals and guitar. The FIRST time we ever recorded guitars on the computer at my house btw.
When i listened back to it though I thought I could've done a better job mixing the initial rhythm section stuff.
But as usual, I pieced the song together from 3 different performances (all recorded the same night of course).
But there's a switchover DURING that bass solo and then in the space after the bass solo it switches again.

But after I had done all THAT oh so cleverly i realized that the drums and bass could've been mixed better.

but what the fuck, eh?

Doesn't the rat cut bass frequencies?  I had a vintage rat around for a few years, it was ok, but I didn't like the fizzy and brittle high frequencies it produced, and the weird sweep of the tone pot... It probably worked pretty good with humbuckers and Marshalls (which I don't use)... I don't know how you manage to use it for bass.
