Hey have you heard the jason isbell cd? I have not yet.

yes.  i like.  was a little disappointed at first, but i realize later it's just the first song i'm disappointed in.  and that first impression thing is tough. i've heard a few of the songs already  (dress blues was recorded by the truckers also)  and i recognized a few from shows.  i was expecting a bit more of a rockin' record, since i saw him with his band, (surprisingly loud and rockin)  but it's pretty tame for the most part.  but his songs were always a little tame, while brilliant.  the most surprising thing is that it isn't his band on the record.  it's basically the truckers minus cooley.  patterson plays on a few.  brad and shonna are pretty much his rhythm section, (a different drummer on a couple), john neff, who played pedal steel on the first record, and has been touring with them as the pedal steel guy for a couple years now, and is now finally considered a full fledged trucker(pedal steel/guitar) is on a couple songs, and spooner oldham (legendary keyboards-recently toured with the truckers) lends a bit to one song. patterson co-produced it.  so i guess the split was as amicable as they all led on. i like it quite a bit, and one song, #7 i forget the name,  is one of his best songs ever.  classic, timeless, jazz type love song.  go get it if you like his dbt songs. that's all i'm sayin.

I could be totally wrong...but I think he had most of the songs recorded before the split. I think one of the reasons for the split was he wasn't allowed to release his solo stuff for some reason. Which I don't understand, since Paterson could. I think Cooley's keeping his 'ace in the hole' for the time he needs some extra scratch. That's one album I'll be first in line for. I love the sound of Cooley's voice and I really can't think of one of his songs that I'll skip on the pod...even I've gotten to like "Panties in your Purse."

Britz just couldn't give firecrotch her day in the limelight.  The two of them are sharing the cover of the Daily News today.

I don't think I'll be leaving the house today. Puppies need monitoring. We don't want to keep her. We're gonna get her all her shots, then try to find someone who'll take her.

what kind is she? Does she have those little sharp puppy teeth? And that puppy breath that at first you can't stand, but because they're so cute you put up with it?

we have two dogs...but it's my cat who brings me peace.

And entertainment. This morning I spied her outside stalking a mommy and two baby deer that were in woods in front of our house. The two baby were tiny...they were very alert to Lucy stalking them. I don't know what she is thinking...the other day she had a stare down with a big deer. The thing was grunting and stomping it's foot like a bull.

She's definitely part pit. I think she might be at least 10 weeks old. She's not teeny-tiny.

So far she hasn't tried to kill any of the other animals.
