What? Why did we get a repeat of the Harry Potter/Adam Sandler Daily Show and the Michael Moore Colbert Report? $@$%@

Also: I thought it was 9:00 AM and cannot believe it is only 6.

I caught a Green Day music video last night, apparently a single for a Darfur benefit, and for some reason (read: any Lennon song = peace protest song apparently) they were 'covering' Working Class Hero?

As if that were not horrible (not to mention a quizzical song choice) enough, it was one of those goddamned videos where they have inserts of victims of (in this case) the Darfur genocide spliced in over fragments of the song, making it one of the most jagged little vids I ever did see. It managed to simultaneously to diminish the song and trivialize the horrors of whatever we are ignoring.

That link had nothing to do with the TV programming last night, it was a perpetuation of the Hale-Bopp theme.

I actually biked to the Wizard of Westmount's office today. 28 miles/44KM  (round trip)...except I forgot to eat a decent meal and I drank too much coffee before leaving. Also: heat/sun took a lot out of me and my arms and neck are tingling still. Also also: for the first time in my life I actually wished I had sunglasses - on the way home at 5PM the sun dropping in the West almost killed me on several occasions. To my surprise it turned out to be a very simple ride and it only took an hour. I only realized once I was there that I was only blocks from the downtown core. It is strange how disjointed one's perspective of a city is when your usual method of travel is public transportation and from there, foot. I only drove for about five years (1995-2000) before simply being to regularly drunk to be allowed near my parents' car ever again. In that time I rarely ever had the opportunity to drive downtown.

Sketchiest bit of the journey is that stretch from Montreal West through NDG to Westmount. Fucking cars.

take it to the  Pyrenees Aisles

really that's awesome you're biking...i totally agree about the perspective thing...just biking down a road I drive down everyday I see things I don't see going by at 40MPH (150KPM).

And if you keep that riding up you probably could win the tour de france...everybody's probably going to be kicked off for blood doping anyways.

Funny, the end credits for John From Cincinatti the other night had that Jewish Rapper (Margichshivisihi??) singing "I'm just watching the wheels go round and round"  from that same album.

I caught a video the other day of Blondie and the doors doing, what do they call it a Mash up...Riders on the storm and Rapture I think it was. Strange.

It's not that the Green Day cover is bad, although they definitely didn't bring anything new to the song. It's just the song in no way goes with the situation in Darfur.

Maybe if they had done a cover of Diamond Dogs by Bowie.

We started watching Premonition - the one with Sandra Bollocks. We haven't finished it yet, but so far it's fairly entertaining. I'm not a Bollocks fan.

But there was a trailer for Across The Universe, which seems to be a combination of Hair and that mini-series The 60s only with Beatles music. It looks absolutely embarrassingly terrible.

My only comment is why is she mixing opiates and alchohol? That has O.D. written all over it.

Why do they insist on driving? Don't they all have limo drivers?
