Holy shit!

More information on the ankle worm

A Kid I used to cook with told me that story back in 1994. It took me 13 years to confirm that he wasn't just bullshiting me.

Just another reason why I'm glad I'm not Italian

...or is it just me?

Fuck man, it's 9am and already 78 degrees and 95  with the Humidex* (that's 26/35 Celsius for the Canuckistanis).

This afternoon it's going to be 91.4/111 with Humidex (33/44 Celsius). 111!!!!! Ugh.

Guess who doesn't have A/C?

*The humidex is a measurement used by Canadian meteorologists to reflect the combined effect of heat and humidity. It differs from the heat index used in the United States in using dew point rather than relative humidity.

At the mountain register (a board where you "sign in") I noticed that an Ottawa native signed in with "Ottawa, Canuckistan!".

So what's everybody listening to? Here are some of my current stand out favorites...the beginning of my summer playlist.

Talking Heads – This Must be the Place (Naïve Melody)
Stumbled upon this by accident. Some blog (some velvet blog) was asking other blog (music is art) what song reminded them of summer…and they said this so I downloaded it.  They are correct…it oozes summer.

Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros – Johnny Appleseed
This is the opening theme song for John From Cincinnati. Love it. Going to have to check out more stuff by this Joe Strummer guy.

Big Brother and the Holding Company, featuring Janis Joplin – Flower in the Sun from Live at Winterland ’68.
I love this interstate woman song from the Slow Break . The singer reminded me of Kim Carnes (betty davis eyes) after she smoked a carton and drank a bottle of Whisky. I thought I need to hear more like that and figured I’d go to the source. I’ve never been able to get into this CD, but every now and then something on it kicks my ass…this was it.

Grateful Dead -- Mr. Charlie from Europe '72
Just a nice 3 and 1/2 minute little ditty sung by Pigpen, first in a long line of Dead keyboardists who would die in that hot seat (4 all together).

Taj Mahal – Cakewalk into Town
Stumbled on this song on a blog and loved it. The Tuba does it. Tuba can make or break a song. Another great Tuba featured song is Springsteen’s Wild Bill Circus Story

Haven't I said that's my favorite Talking Heads song like a bazillion times?

Posilutely!

I don't doubt the Capt or anyone else diggs it as much...it's the sweetest tune.

I was sorta shocked to hear the Arcade Fire dude covered it, but then I read on WIKIPEDIA a week ago that he also recommended one of my favourite over-the-top-gaylord Siouxsie and the Banshees songs (it was one of W____ and I's "songs") to some other band to cover.

I took "The Neon Bible" out from the library last night.

Along with Deerhoof's "Friend Opportunity"

I had a horrible dream. I can't even get into right now, but it was really depressing. It was so depressing that now I'm totally depressed. Shit.
