Who is JET again?

You should rent Apocalypto. It's well worth the rental price, and I'm sure everyone has sat through much much worse.

I won't do it out of principle.  Fuck Mel Gibson.

What's a religious religious fundamentalist?

i don't know, dude.  you said it, not me...

You didn't ruffle my feathers.  You reminded me how annoying religious religious fundamentalists are.  They're one of my main pet peeves.

Oh, I remember now: a religious "religious fundamentalist" is a religious fundamentalist who wants to put back "fun" into fundamentalism.  Duh!

How was Poison Pat?

i don't want to say "awesome", cause it was, you know, Poison.  BUT,  it was pretty damn fun.  the beer was too expensive, but i managed to drink plenty. actually, my friend jenny was working one of the beer tents so, we got a little bit of a hookup.  apparantly, poison has a new album of cover songs, so we were treated to poison'd versions of Suffragete City, What I Like About You, Your Momma Don't Dance, Georgia on My Mind (instrumental cc deville freak out), etc.  plus all the hits. lots of retro-sexy on the jumbotrons.  capt would have been happy.  it was a good time.  nothin but.

How was Ratt?

What a dumb question!   Wink

I saw a ratt video the other night while channel surfing...i could of sworn milton berle was in it...must have been a different song.

7 years being a dad and I still have not won the "Best Dad" or "World's greatest Dad" award...since I have not receieved a cup with those proclomations on it.

I guess it can be summed up by my son's response when he asked me to play some kickball (and just to let you know we had just got home from fishing...it wasn't like we didn't do anything all day) and I said I had some things to do.

His response -- "Like what, drink some beer?"

Yikes.  Sorry,man.

there's nothing quite so jarring.

I saw a kid get run down when i was 11.  I can recall every tiny detail of that moment to this day.

I saw a 3 year old kid drown when I was 13.  And a guy jumping off Cartier bridge.  And a latino kid getting seriously beat up by cops... Those are probably the ones that effed me up the most.  But there's a few other traumatic occurrences involving hospital wards and traffic accidents.

I almost saw my cousin drown at our cottage when I was young. About 10 years later, he was killed in a car accident. (I wrote a story about him, once, but I can't find it.) Not the same as seeing it, though, thank dog.

I feel for you, Pat.  Undecided

I also had another cousin (who had MS) who was murdered. I was so freaked, I couldn't even face going back home for the funeral. I still have guilt that I didn't go.

Man, what a bummer bunch of posts.

I once ran over my nextdoor neighbors' cutest little puppy in the world. I was emotionally scarred way before that, but it certainly didn't help my brain any.

i wonder if it will be in tomorrow's paper.  i guess there's a chance the guys still alive,  but i doubt it.  his car was totally wrapped around a telephone pole.  he was in some lady's arms, kinda on his back, totally convulsing, with blood gushing out of the sides of his mouth.  eyes rolled back in his head. young black kid.  maybe 25.  just waiting for the ambulance, i guess.  i couldn't have glanced over for more than a second or two, but it seems like forever.  it was like a scene i've seen in a million movies. totally surreal.  i couldn't really talk about it earlier. i was kinda freaked out for a long while. i feel like i have some connection with that kid now.  i know i'll remember his face for a loooong time.  prayers for his family's pain.  mind atoms. whatever.

Not to make light of the tragedy, but didn't Oliver Stone's The Doors start that way?

I know - totally distasteful.
