Dead Ahead -- The Grateful Dead In Concert

Upcoming Airtimes
Tue, Jun 5
9 pm

Program Description

Dead Ahead: The Grateful Dead In Concert, recorded during the Grateful Dead's historic eight-night run of shows at New York's Radio City Music Hall in 1980, marked the only time the Dead would play at the famous theater. For these special shows, which came on the heels of engagements at the Warfield in San Francisco and the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, the band opened each show with an acoustic set. For the first time in more than a decade, fans were treated to this rarest of treats. Dead Ahead presents highlights of those sets, including "On the Road Again," "Ripple" and "Heaven Help the Fool," as well as some of the peak moments from the Dead's full-on electric performances, among them "Saint of Circumstance," "Franklin's Tower," "Good Lovin'," "Samson and Delilah," "Fire on the Mountain", "Ramble on Rose" and "Don't Ease Me In." The public television re-release will contain new interviews with band members as well as a revised running order.

Rated TVPG, Closed Captioned, In Stereo
