How about bitterness?

The Democratic Debate:

The Entirely Unrealistic but Ideal:

Dennis Kucinich = he would not be elected in Canada, much less the United States, where John Kerry was blasted as a "liberal"

The semi-realistic, but not ideal:

Mike Gravel: more angry than anything else. (I don't blame him, I think I would have punched half the people on stage)..I don't see it happening, though. Respect some of the things he did in the past (Pentagon Papers/draft), but I am curious to see more.

Bill Richardson: he almost sold me on moving to New Mexico, but he crashed and burned on the "sounding Presidential" front and he sounded too much like the Governor he is.

Unlikely and not ideal:

Chris Dodd: they let jowls shimmy once or twice...typical Democrat. Fuck him.

Joe Biden: not much different. I believe we all share his anger re:Darfur being ignored, but he is clearly too aggressive and eager to use the military to solve the world's problems. He made much of his heroic stance on Milosevic in the Balkans, but he failed to explain what made the heavy bombing of the Serbs so "great", except that he claimed they stopped genocide without losing a single American (ignoring the thousands that died under those bombs -contributing greatly to the genocide he was so concerned with), or why he chose to ignore Chechnya. Or why it remains acceptable to ignore Chechnya. Shithead.

The Unfortunately Realisitic:

John Edwards: clearly has a head abuzz with domestic policy ideas, but the next President will be selected more on his ability to deal with foreign policy disasters than anything else, and he was a great enabler in this regard. Echos of Clinton charisma (i.e. potential sleaze and crafty insincerity)

Hillary Clinton: should be a Republican

Barack Obama: should be a Republican ...definitely the whip smart of the bunch, undeniably smooth dispensing the patronizing rhetoric, but he is all too eager to play patsy to the right and I do believe he is quite conservative deep down, good speaker or not.

The U.S. military is somewhat beyond homophobic...

i'm curious to see Vice Presidential choices. I wouldn't mind seeing Gore  get in the race with Obama as his VP.

But first I want to see the current administration's heads on pikes.

Speaking of bands on Monday...finally downloaded a Bloc Party album (Silent Alarm)...and..well..it ain't doing nothing for me. What am I missing? Some elements are vaguely, mildly (very mild) interesting, but really it just bores me to death. While there is some pop, the rhythm section is extrememly weak and features no interesting dynamics whatsoever. Weaker than the Futureheads, stronger than Franz Ferdinand (altough Franz Ferdinand has at least two catchy singles and I can at least understand how they got big).

Is the second album any better?

Nope.

actually of those three bands I like the Futureheads the best. But yeah, they're all mining the exact same territory.

I also kinda liked Interpol. What're they doing?

Yeah, from what I've heard of 'em I much prefer, Interpol, as well. I thought they had a new one coming out or something.

I like Interpol too.  I have the records.

the old sesame street,  before there was an elmo, when mr. hooper still ran the store, the pointer sisters made the numbers 1-12 the most amazing pinball game ever, and young girls in leotards carried colorful banners to the tune of jethro tull's 'living in the past.'

have not been able to make the interpol/franz ferdinand leap yet.  many friends have recommended both, but it still has not sunk in.  at least the little bit of it that i've heard.  sometimes that's a good thing, though.  alot of times if i immediately like something, it's boring 2 months later....

It WAS a Sesame Street reference.

So, how does it work as a Celine Dion reference?
