Man, who bamboozled the Pentagon into financing this crackpot scheme?

i'm gonna pretend it's sesame street.  after seeing that video a couple weeks ago, i would rather not think about celine dion at all.

in my heart, 'near.....far' will always mean sesame street. Cry

It WAS a Sesame Street reference.

So, how does it work as a Celine Dion reference?

It's not as if I knew the lyrics.

have not been able to make the interpol/franz ferdinand leap yet.  many friends have recommended both, but it still has not sunk in.  at least the little bit of it that i've heard.  sometimes that's a good thing, though.  alot of times if i immediately like something, it's boring 2 months later....

Franz Ferdinand blows.  Interpol's cool, particularly the first record.  Mind, they're pretty derivative, but they can write good songs.

(ahem) There are a few good songs off of FF's first album. (crawls back into bed)

I wouldn't say Franz Ferdinand blows, necessarily.

But I agree about Interpol. Love 'em. I was obsessed with the 1st record, and dug the second (but not as much), and while they do sound like many many other (good) artists...they are good at it so what the hell.

and I'm still planning on a trip to Memphis this summer, my vacation request for the weekend after the 4th was denied so I'm trying to reshuffle the plans.

what are you reading?

My friend just gave me Galapogas by Kurt Vonegut. Just started it, but it seems good.

He gave me that and Good Omens by Neil Gaiman...he's the sandman guy, right?

Not meaning to tell you what and when to read something, but you oughta read American Gods before you read Good Omens.

The book I'm reading now is Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. I wasn't sure if it was the right choice, but it's ended up holding my attention. I found the hardback for 5 or 6 bucks in the Barnes & Noble bargain section. I like finding bargain books that end up being good. I went to Barnes & Noble tonight and actually paid full price for Love Is A Mix Tape.

I didn't know it had it's own website til just now.

I guess it's pretty stupid to tell someone when they oughta read something. The only reason I said it was because I thought American Gods was so much better.

ATTN Deadheads:

PBS:

Dead Ahead -- The Grateful Dead In Concert

Upcoming Airtimes
Tue, Jun 5
9 pm

Program Description

Dead Ahead: The Grateful Dead In Concert, recorded during the Grateful Dead's historic eight-night run of shows at New York's Radio City Music Hall in 1980, marked the only time the Dead would play at the famous theater. For these special shows, which came on the heels of engagements at the Warfield in San Francisco and the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, the band opened each show with an acoustic set. For the first time in more than a decade, fans were treated to this rarest of treats. Dead Ahead presents highlights of those sets, including "On the Road Again," "Ripple" and "Heaven Help the Fool," as well as some of the peak moments from the Dead's full-on electric performances, among them "Saint of Circumstance," "Franklin's Tower," "Good Lovin'," "Samson and Delilah," "Fire on the Mountain", "Ramble on Rose" and "Don't Ease Me In." The public television re-release will contain new interviews with band members as well as a revised running order.

Rated TVPG, Closed Captioned, In Stereo
