But...but...what are those red, white and blue ribbony thingies flying around? Is that a Memorial Day tradition for the ladies?

(hopes Kimmy and Savvy have stocked up on red, white and blue ribbony thingies)

So at 6:30pm today, just seconds before the peons got to leave work (the bosses were all gone by 5), we hear this huge crash... a car turning left at the corner got hit by this limo slammin' through the crosswalk... the car careened towards our building (we're right on the corner) and missed actually hitting our office by about 3 inches. Crazy!

No one was hurt, though the young gals in the limo were pretty shaken up.

Since I am the most senior member of the staff who was still there (in both age and "status" at the office), I had to stick around till the cops got there, take down licence plate info and phone numbers, etc., in case there was any contact with the building (it was too close to tell at first) etc. Close to 7pm, they finally move the limo out of the centre lane so streetcars and traffic could get through and I could finally leave.

Then I'm on the streetcar ride home (normally it takes about a 1/2 hour), and get stuck behind the Critical Mass demo.

Now, normally, I'm a huge supporter of cyclists and believe in their "we're not blocking traffic, we are traffic" message, but it took for-ev-er to get home...

Man. Crazy start to the weekend.

So, basically, I'm about to start drinkin'...

My pal Jim Bryson is heading here from Ottawa tonight (and staying with us), so hopefully we'll go out in the world to accomplish said task...though I'm also prepped if we just end up on the couch, watching teevee.  Tongue

Also on tap for tonight: waiting for the capt's Friday night "bitch drink" text message.  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy

Tomorrow night, some more friends from Ottawa are coming down to play (and two of those guys will be staying here, too), so more drinks ahead.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is:

IF YOU'RE EVER COMING TO T.O., Y'ALL HAVE A PLACE TO STAY!!!

Ok. As you were.

Oh yeah, and Sunday, I'm doing some (no doubt hungover) guerilla gardening, making some shitty part of town all purty-like with flowers. Yay!

You just have to show up and do nothing because you previously had a day off? Nice.*
