I felt like he really dug the song. My perspective was completely different from yours. Imagine that. The audience was digging on it too. I thought it sounded pretty good.

I thought that was lame-o. As far as I'm concerned, that kind of ironic distancing act is boring, and by now, cringe inducing. If you don't like the song, don't play it. If you like the song and you know it sucks, then play it for yourself. 'Cause, you know, even if it is funny (not sure about that), it's only funny for about 30 seconds.
Anyway, I wasn't even talking to you.

S_ _ _'s 40th birthday is today. I got her a pair of fancy inline skates and a gift certificate for Barnes & Noble. This gift giving thing just gets more and more difficult every time.

Gift certificates are life saving arrangements. But you always have to find something personal, or she'll think you don't give a damn. I think you did a good job.
Hey, I'm not bitching! How about that?

I'll bitch instead. Tomorrow is Mother's Day. When your wife's b-day is the day before Mother's Day, you know it's gonna be a friggin' expensive weekend. Thank goodness my wife isn't a mom.

You know when you've had two martinis (and mixing at that: one vodka, one gin that your friend couldn't finish) by 2pm and then you're off to a beer-on-a-patio-by-the-lake birthday thing for another friend right after?
Beware PMs later. I'm just sayin'...

My friends and I have decided, over the past couple years, to give each other the gift of an "experience" rather than stuff (so, brunch, dinner, an evening out, whatever). We are all in our late 30s/early 40s with our own households (in whatever form), partners (some of us), busy jobs, etc., so it's actually become much more of a precious gift to be able to spend time with the person than to get things for a birthday/xmas/whatever. You know?

I'm glad Matthew's mood is uplifted right now.
