I can't remember what the first album I ever bought was. I think it might've been Abbey Rd.

My parents gave me Yellow Submarine when I was about 5 or 6. So I had that and a bunch of those kid sing-a-long albums.

I had the attitude that if it wasn't the beatles, I wasn't interested in getting it. That lasted at least til 4th or 5th grade. I remember somehow getting Richard Pryor's Is it something I said? when I was in 6th or 7th grade. My father heard it and took it away from me. He didn't give it back til I started high school.

I remember this guy I knew when I was in middle school who had a couple of Cheech n' Chong albums. I still can't believe his parents let us listen to that stuff.

I love old Richard Pryor. Stivers' dad had all those records and we use to listen to them all the time.
although I didn't get many of the jokes until years later.
"He came and went at the same time!"
picture a bunch of kids laughing knowingly but having no idea why thats funny.

Never had Pryor...just raunchy Newfie (my roots) comedians, Bill Cosby, Bob Newhart, Steve Martin...

When I was a wee lass, we too had the typical kiddie records (the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtrack stands out for some reason). I had an older cousin who had Alice Cooper and T-Rex posters on his (basement) bedroom walls and I remember being enamoured by both (though only Bolan stuck with me), but it never occurred to me to buy their records. Nor the Stones, though he had everything... Weird.
I was such a top-40 chart kinda gal. I was so shy and insecure (and just lookit me now!), I just wanted to listen to what was popular so I'd be like "everybody" else.
First single was probably ABC by the Jackson 5. Or Donny Osmond's Puppy Love. (I know. But he was sooooooooo cute!)
The Andy Gibb record that Matthew Gosse gave to me was (the first time I owned it) a birthday gift when I was 14, so probably the first album I bought myself was... the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. Or maybe Grease. Either way, I was interminably un-cool.
Still am, but in a cool kinda way.

Hi Moe-T!
I've had some whiskey. (Or do y'all spell it whisky? I can't remember the Canadian/not Canadian thing. We prolly put a "u" in there somewheres.) But I'm friggin' exhausted...
Went to a launch party for a fairly crap tee vee show last night (but when the two cutest producers in Canadiatown invite you to their launch you do NOT say no) and ended up chatting with some old dude the whole night (who was buying me the wine drinks). Today was total awfulness, as you can imagine.
