The pain of being dumped is the worst non-physical pain I've ever experienced. I have major rejection issues, so even when I haven't been "all that into it," getting dumped is a drag. Maybe your first suspicion that he's really gay is correct.
Not that it would make you feel better, but he's probably never even considered watching Duck Soup.

It's snowing here. Like real snow. Snowing in Fort Worth-less in April. It was around 82 degrees about 5 days ago.
