I got my resume together and I'm gonna e-mail it to that Oxford University Publishing sales manager. I've got that initial phone interview tomorrow. Any suggestions on what I can do to improve my chances of getting a 2nd interview?

Put out during the first?

Seriously, didn't we tackle the Secrets To Job Interviews thing with Jim a while back?

Crappity should seriously look into the publishing department.

um, yeah, I don't know.

I am wondering what and how I am going to get a job this summer. School is finished in a matter of weeks. This Tuesday is the final day of one of classes (the only class out of ten that I was in that was worth taking, by the way)...and I have to both cook something and finish off my preparations for my presentation on The Theory Of Devolution.

Since Jim's thing was a while back, I don't remember what we told him. This interview will be over the phone, so it'll be diffficult to put out.

You're gonna serve food during the presentation?

Lately I've been working on my joint rolling technique. Since I first learned to roll, I'd always creased both sides of the paper to make two little pockets. I decided not to crease anymore, and my joints are much better now.

I've also wanted to learn how to roll a cone joint like they roll them in Amsterdam. I found a website which teaches the 3 paper method. Yesterday, I rolled 2 perfect cones. I was so proud of myself, and the people at my mom's party last night were very impressed.

This teaches me that I can do almost anything if I put my mind to it...as long as it's not math.

Lately I've been working on my joint rolling technique. Since I first learned to roll, I'd always creased both sides of the paper to make two little pockets.

i think you are referring to what i call the "sailboat" method,  (although there's no sail, just a boat).  this i how i learned, also.  at the time (20 years ago??)  this was very practical, since weed was usually dry and bricky and would fall out the ends when rolling,  especially if you weren't a great joint roller. there was no "KBs" or "Crippy"  or "BC" or "white widow".  everything i could get was shitty mexican brick weed.  once in a while you'd get some "redhair" or "skunk"  or what people would call "high octane".  "sensimilia" was  something you heard about on cheech and chong movies.  then came the advent of "hydroponic"  and the like.  and pretty soon, weed costs $100 a qtr. and looked  like little green pillows.  nowadays, weed is puffy and a bit stickier, at least the weed i most often purchase, and is real easy to roll, because it stays put in the paper with out falling out the ends.  problem is, it costs so much, most people like to smoke bowls instead. not realizing those 3 or 4 bowls don't get you any higher than if you smoked 1 joint.  which is why i still prefer the joints.  there's something ritualistic about the whole thing.  and oddly enough, i still do the "sailboat" method, even though i don't need to.  i roll a pretty good joint.  i guess it's just part of the process.(habit, maybe?)  i have a little trick that helps, i don't know if it's common or not.  after i get the appropriate amount of weed in the paper, between the "pockets",  i push my finger in the middle of the weed, kind of separating and forming 2 smaller piles of weed in the paper.  then i lick my fingers and thumbs. kinda like you do when you turn pages in a book, and twist it up.  making the 2 piles helps with the "wumpy", or "pregnant" joints.  when you twist, you still end up pushing a little to the center, but it just fills the little space you made with your finger, rather than making it pregnant.  this might be common routine, as i've never really paid attention to others joint rolling techniques, but i figured it out myself, years ago, and i've been a much better joint roller ever since.  so try it, if you haven't or ignore the whole thing, if this is totally the way most people roll joints.    i've never really been that good at rolling a cone, but i really haven't tried that often.  think i'm gonna go roill a joint now, or let K__ do it, since my fingers fucked up...

I rolled the cone from old weed I keep for when things get dry, and some typically not horrible swag mi madre had. I wouldn't use the good stuff to roll a cone.

You're totally right about the regular joints. The people I know usually say that you use so much in a j, but 3 or four bowls between 2 or 3 people probably uses as much if not more pot than one decent joint will.

Maybe we should take this to the Ganja Isles.

I went out with this chick from Germany, she used to tear the lid off a pack of zig-zags, and roll it up tightly, and attaching the end of it, to be used as a filter. And the end where you light it was blown out, kind of like a cotton candy cone.

???  i've seen the filter thing, but i'm having a hard time visualizing the "blown-out" end.  is the weed all hanging on one end?
