saturday... did the show at the roller derby. a weird but fun gig. then hightailed it to the Buccaneer for another show with the legendary Jeff Evans and equally legendary Ross Johnson who were cracking me up all night.

sunday.. recovered from Saturday, watched the Galactica season finale. No new galactica til 2008?!

Well, projections are saying a liberal (centre right) win: minority government.  What really surprises me is that it seems the ADQ (a populist party without a real platform, essentially a head piece for their leader, a right wing dickhead) won more votes than the PQ (pro-independence centre left).  So we have a right wing government with a harder right wing party holding the balance of power.  Nice job, fellow Quebecers!  

Well, you know, you're rarely disappointed if you just assume that most people are idiots... I think I can expect my university tuition to go sharply up in the next few years.

This reminds me of an old russian joke from the days of the old Soviet Union:  

Lenin is on a train, and the train derails.  Lenin organises everyone in the train, and they all get together and put the train back on track.  

Stalin is in a train that derails.  He shoots the conductor, then gets carried the rest of the way on the backs of the passengers.  

Brejnev is on a train that derails.  He stays inside and orders a third of the passengers to shake the train, and then convinces the rest that everything is hunky-dory, the train is back on track.  

I think we're on the "shake the train" phase.  The world is going to hell, and people keep electing politicians that keep telling them that everything is fine, just keep doing what you're doing.
